For character info on seasons 3-5, Crusade, Legend of the Rangers click here SPOILERS! This page contains information on Babylon 5 characters and developments that occurred during seasons 1 and 2. Capt. JOHN SHERIDAN - After the death of President Santiago, and the reassignment of Commander Sinclair to Minbar, Sheridan took over control of Babylon 5. Suspicious of the conspiracy that led to the assassination of the President, Sheridan organizes some of the staff to look into the changes in the Earth Alliance. Sheridan is finally told of the Shadows and their involvement in the death of his wife. He is then introduced to the Rangers, an ancient Minbari group whose purpose is to watch for the return of the Shadows. AMBASSADOR DELENN - Delenn kept her membership on the Grey Council secret while she served as Ambassador on Babylon 5. She used her position to keep an eye on Commander Sinclair. Although she was ordered not to do so, Delenn used a device called the Triluminary to change her appearance and became partly human. Her decision to act on her own angered the Grey Council who replaced her with a member of the warrior caste. It wasn't long after this that she and Kosh tell Captain Sheridan about the Shadows and enlist his aid to create an army of light. But before they can proceed in the war against the Shadows Delenn had to be tested by an Inquisitor sent by the Vorlons. SECURITY CHIEF MICHAEL GARIBALDI - Garibaldi served as security chief on the station and was there longer than anyone on the staff. He was criticized for being in over his head during his investigation into the poisoning of the Vorlon Ambassador Kosh Naranek. He was badly wounded during his investigation into the death of a lurker that he believed had warned him of the assassination of President Santiago. After having been healed by an alien healing device, Garibaldi returned to his position as head of station security. He was the first to be informed of the existence of the Rangers and joined with Sheridan in his army of light. Lt. Comm. SUSAN IVANOVA - As second-in-command to Commander Sinclair, Ivanova was a tough and resourceful officer. She participated in many dangerous missions including leading a fighter squadron against a group of raider that attacked the station. She also accompanied Sinclair into Epsilon 3 to try to heal the alien Varn who had stood at the heart of the great machine for centuries. Because of the tragic death of her mother, Ivanova is extremely distrustful of telepaths. Despite her feelings she eventually became very close with telepath Talia Winters and was devastated upon learning the truth about Talia. AMBASSADOR G'KAR - As an Ambassador on Babylon 5 G'Kar constantly fought against Centauri Ambassador Londo Mollari. As the Narn government began expanding it's territories G'Kar often worked to encourage invasion into new territories. After an attack on a Narn colony G'Kar took it on himself to investigate the incident. Researching the holy book of G'Quan he learned that an ancient enemy had returned to Z'ha'dum but his warnings went unheard. He later was betrayed as the Centauri and the Narn once again went to war. After the Centauri defeat the Narn G'Kar is forced off of the Babylon 5 Advisory Committee and has to ask for sanctuary. DR. STEPHEN FRANKLIN - He eventually became head of MedLab on Babylon 5. As the head of the MedLab Dr. Franklin had to deal with various medical cases with many alien species. He worked on analyzing an immortality serum developed by a ruthless Dilgar war criminal and became aware of the existence of an alien healing device. The device could be used to cure any disease, even terminal cases but required a donor to sacrifice their life for another. After Garibaldi was shot in the back Franklin used the alien healing device to restore him to health. He was called in to examine Delenn after she emerged from the Chrysalis which had altered her structure to become more human. He was unable to save the life of the Centauri Emperor who had arrived on Babylon 5 to make peace with the Narns. He becomes reunited with his father when the General and his marines make a stop on the way to a pivotal battle. He was unable to find a cure for the plague that wiped out practically the entire Markab race. AMBASSADOR LONDO MOLLARI - As an Ambassador on B5 Londo found himself many times in conflict with Ambassador G'Kar. The situation coming to a head on many occasions as when the Narn attacked a Centauri colony where Londo's relative was stationed and when Londo retaliated by using a difficult to obtain plant G'Kar needed for a religious ceremony to torment him. An important situation occurred when Londo obtained 'The Eye', an ancient symbol of the Centauri Republic, which put him in touch with Mr. Morden and his mysterious associates for the first time. As the alliance between Londo and Mr. Morden continues, Londo's position within the Centauri government becomes stronger. When the Centauri Emperor dies Londo uses the incident to begin what will soon become a new war with the Narns. As the war escalates Londo becomes more uncomfortable in his dealings with Mr. Morden yet uses the association to have the Shadows wipe out nearly all of the Narn fleet. This act leaves the Narn homeworld defenseless and he is horrified when the Centauri use illegal mass driver weapons to ravage Narn. LENNIER - Lennier arrived on the station as the assistant to Ambassador Delenn. He is a part of the religious caste and spent much time living in a monastery. He serves Delenn loyally, keeping secret her place as part of the Grey Council. When Delenn returned temporarily to Minbar Lennier took her place in the Advisory Council meetings including during the Deathwalker incident. He reluctantly assisted Delenn during her change within the chrysalis. While Delenn was undergoing her metamorphosis Lennier again took her place in the council meetings. He also explains to Sheridan the truth behind the battle of the line and Sinclair's part in it. After Delenn was reprimanded and removed from the Grey Council Lennier stood by her side. He tried to protect Delenn from the inquisitor sent by the Vorlons to test her. COMMANDER JEFFREY SINCLAIR - Eventually Sinclair was given the assignment of running the Babylon 5 space station. He was a controversial choice for such a prestigious command. The controversy continued as many of his decisions were second guessed by military and political leaders back on Earth. In 2259, after the death of President Santiago, Sinclair was reassigned as Ambassador to Minbar and replaced by Captain Sheridan. There, unknown to the Earth government, Sinclair was put in charge of the Rangers. VIR COTTO - Vir is the assistant to Ambassador Londo Mollari. He was a shy, timid and insecure man. As Londo's assistant he had to put up with Londo's insults and tirades. He watched silently as Londo made terrible decisions but remained loyal to him feeling sure that in the end Londo would do the right thing. When Londo used his association with Morden to attack the Narn Vir finally spoke up begging Londo not to do it. He warned Londo that he'd be heading down too dangerous a path. When Morden is detained on B5 Vir is forced to approach Sheridan on his behalf revealing the Centauri involvement with Morden's associates. LYTA ALEXANDER - Lyta returned to Babylon 5 over two years later to warn them of a sleeper agent that was setup to spy on them. The sleeper agent was an artificially created second personality implanted into the mind of one of the B5 crew by the Psi Corps. This second personality was designed to gather information on suspicious personnel and then be activated by a codeword sent telepathically into his or her mind. Once she uncovered the spy by sending the codeword to a large number of the staff and crew the artificial personality took over and destroyed the sleeper's true persona. After revealing the traitor Lyta became obsessed with traveling to the Vorlon homeworld. Sgt. ZACK ALLEN - Zack, like Garibaldi, was a man with a rather checkered past. But on a hunch Garibaldi felt he'd work out fine and hired Zack onto his security team. Zack eventually rose to become Garibaldi's second. Feeling that it was easy money for hardly any work Zack joined the Night Watch. But as the Night Watch's true purpose became more and more obvious Zack became uncomfortable being a part of the organization. TALIA WINTERS - Talia was the commercial telepath sent to Babylon 5 to replace Lyta Alexander. Because of Ivanova's past experiences with the Psi Corps she and Talia end up butting heads on several occasions at first. Talia's former lover who had been the subject of a dangerous Psi Corp experiment arrived on the station hunted by two Psi Cops. The experience left Talia with enhanced telepathy and the telekinetic ability to move objects with her mind. Shortly after that incident Ambassador Kosh hired her in a negotiation that ended with her being scanned and having her thought patterns recorded onto a data crystal. After Garibaldi recovers from being shot in the back, Talia assisted in scanning him to learn the identity of his assailant. She also becomes involved in covering up Dr. Franklin's secret "railroad" system for escaped telepaths from the Psi Corps. She is tricked by Sheridan into uncovering the secret of Mr. Morden's associates. Shortly after that incident she leaves Babylon 5. NA'TOTH - Na'Toth's family was affected by the attacks of the Dilgar and the experimentation by the war criminal Jha'dur. Her arrival on the station was greeted suspiciously by G'Kar who had recently been warned that an assassin had been sent to kill him. As a diplomatic attaché, Na'Toth rarely acted very diplomatic, but she was a strong woman with a fierce spirit. She attended council meetings on G'Kar's behalf when he was engaged in searching for the truth behind mysterious attacks against Narn outposts. Na'Toth goes missing after the Centauri bomb the Narn homeworld. ALFRED BESTER - Although Bester first arrived on Babylon 5 during the Jason Ironheart incident, his ties with Lyta Alexander go back further from when she interned with the Psi Cops as a field agent. Bester is a ruthless officer with his own agendas and not to be trusted. His handling of the Ironheart case put the entire station at risk. He later was involved to some extent with both the plot by Colonel Ari Ben Zayn to wrest control of the station from Sinclair and the assassination of the President. Bester returned again the next year trying to track down rogue telepaths that were using Babylon 5 as an escape route to evade the Psi Corps. Each time he arrives on the station he makes everyone aboard more ill-at-ease with his being there, especially after the Psi Corp sleeper agent was revealed. Lt. WARREN KEFFER - During a mission Keffer saw a strange alien spacecraft while in hyperspace but his recorder units malfunctioned and he had no proof. He became obsessed with searching for the "ghost" ship and finally was ordered by the Captain to stop the search. He continued to investigate the matter covertly, obtaining the tachyon frequency the ships emit and using it to finally locate and create a recording of the peculiar vessel. KOSH NARANEK - Like other Vorlons, Kosh is secretive and vague in his statements. Kosh attends the council meetings rarely and usually remains secluded within his quarters. One of the few times he ventured out into public he hired the telepath Talia Winters for a negotiation that ended with her being scanned and having her thought patterns recorded onto a data crystal which Kosh kept. Shortly after that incident Kosh arranged for a Vorlon ship to settle a dispute over what to do with a Dilgar war criminal. Kosh's encounter suit was later mysteriously damaged around the same time that the equally mysterious Mr. Morden was visiting the station. Kosh later exhibits an uncharacteristic interest in the newly arrived Captain Sheridan and they begin meeting together. Eventually he and Delenn tell Captain Sheridan about the Shadows and enlist his aid to create an army of light. Doubting Delenn's intentions are pure, Kosh sends for an inquisitor to test her for the upcoming war. And Kosh leaves his encounter suit in order to save Sheridan's life. LISE HAMPTON - Years ago Lise refused to go with Garibaldi when he signed on to Babylon 5. In the years that followed he always regretted his decision. After riots broke out on Mars, Garibaldi contacted Lise to make sure she was okay. He learned that she was married and with a child on the way. MR. MORDEN - A mediator between Londo and The Shadows. Mr. Morden expedited the return of The Eye to the Centauris. He also arranged for his associates to begin attacking Narn colonies and outposts. It was later discovered that Morden had been on the same planetary survey as Sheridan's wife. Eventually his connection to the Shadows became known to Sheridan and the others. DRAAL - Delenn's teacher when she was younger. After having been secluded on Minbar for his entire life, Draal embarked on a journey to see the galaxy before finally ending up on Epsilon 3 hooked into the machine that controls the planet. From Episilon 3, he is able to assist Sheridan and his army of light. ZATHRAS - A quite peculiar being who appeared on the Babylon 4 station just before it disappeared. When questioned he told that the station is to be taken through time to be used in a great war. |
