Teach Me Your Word
Teach me Your Word, Lord, in all its pure ways.
Lift up my mind, and into it gaze.
Tell me of flaws that in my mind dwell.
And guide me straight forward away from sin's Hell.
Your Word teaches me all that I need,
To show all Your children that they too must heed,
All of the wisdom that dwells,
Lord, there-in, And the one blessed hope that remains for all men.
Bring to me wisdom and Christ's qualities,
Bring my dark arrogance down on its knees.
Humbleness give me in every way,
To teach me Your mercy you show everyday.
Hell whispers softly the evils you hate,
And I am so foolish and go for the bait.
You only can save me from my insolence,
And will in a heartbeat if I but repent.
Glory is mine now because of Your love.
My sins are all done for and cleansed by your blood.
One duty you leave me, my God and my Lord:
To speak unto others and show them Your Word.
Your Word teaches me all that I need,
To show all Your children that they too must heed,
All of the wisdom that dwells, Lord, there-in,
And the one blessed hope that remains for all men.
