"The Artist"

Paper creation

Reflecting the complexities of his mind

Thought poured into the piece

Upon his artwork

Images and visions are left behind

Brilliant red design

There are so many things he wishes to say

Flames of expression flee

Escaping suppression

That disturbs his existence today

His next dreams are dark

A rising oppression has become the voice

In this new creation

A solemn lonely black

Becomes his somber color of choice

He may not use words

Still he conveys all he wishes us to see

Repression overcome

Through his ingenuity

His art becomes his poetry
