The Boys...Nokah and Boo

" Tillie's Boys "

These are Tillie's kittens...we think they were born in early July '98...we found them in August.
The grey one is Nokah, he was the runt... but has filled out nicely.  He is somewhat like a Russian Blue. He is
very shy!  Not very many people get a chance to meet him!
The fine black and white Tuxedo kitty was named BooBoo, because when we found them, he was on his way to feral, and would only peek-a-boo out at me from behind things... unfortunately, Boo went to the Rainbow Bridge in May '99.

If you lost a pet, this helps...

He was so tiny when I first saw him...still had a "triangle tail"  and blue eyes.  Always so quiet, too.  Even now, he "mee-ows" so rarely that I am always startled to hear a cat-sound coming out.  I guess I think of him as a mime!

Nokah is the only cat I have been around that will run after a toy and bring it back.  He will lay it on my shoe, and look at me to throw it again.  He is willing to be picked up and held, but usually wants down again shortly.  He prefers cuddling & petting when he's standing on his own four feet.
My husband likes to say that Nokie is "slow", but I believe that he is usually just considering things very thoroughly.

He does seem to spend a lot of time just staring into space.

If you look closely at the picture
at left, you will see that Boo is carrying the dandelion in his mouth.  I took these photos (click on the photo for more)
in late April '99 as he played in our yard.

He died during the second week of May '99.

About Boo...a tribute:

BooBoo was really an extraordinarily loving cat...for how he started out....When he was tiny (although always QUITE a bit bigger than Nokah) he was already extremely frightened by people.  He wanted the food we brought, but he let us know that he wanted NO part of being touched, or even looked at for long.  He would scamper away.  I thought at first that he was "too far gone", un-tameable.  As I continued to feed these kitties, though, he got used to my voice, and my presence.  I made promises to him that I would not reach out to try and touch him until he was ready.  This really did seem to put him more at ease (don't ask me to explain that).
Eventually, what won him over was a wand toy (with a long polarfleece trailer).  I bought it to play with Nokah (who was socializing nicely).  Boo could not resist that toy, and came right up in my lap the first time he saw it.  I still didn't try to pet him for a few days, just let him play in my lap with the toy.  He eventually let me touch, then stroke him.  A few months later I couldn't believe it was the same cat....an absolute ADDICT to "heavy petting"!  Boo became such a gentle and self-assured kitty,  he carried himself like a little prince.  He taught me that sometimes if someone seems especially afraid of or unwilling to love, that one is the most needy of tenderness.
We don't know what happened to Boo, he was found dead less than a block from home.  My only consolation is knowing that he KNEW love and tender care from me.  I miss him so.
