Types of Hauntings:
It is important to differentiate between the various types of hauntings which are possible.
- General Hauntings
- These are repeated manifestations of inexplicable sensory phenomena at a particular location. In other words, that creepy feeling, cold, chills, glimpses of light or feelings of positive or negative energy. They can occur daily or only on particular days.
- Poltergeist Hauntings
- The word 'poltergeist' means noisy spirit in German. Phenomena associated with poltergeists are taps, knocks, doors slamming, lights going on and off, objects moving and other general kinetic disturbances.
The term 'Poltergeist Hauntings' is actually a misnomer, as many researchers believe poltergeist activity is actually due to the subconscious kinetic Will of a human being who is alive.
- Portal Hauntings
- The concept of portal or doorway hauntings gets a little wild for some people. In general a portal is a one or two-way doorway to another reality. Portals which end up in our reality are often haunted by entities of some sort, although not always necessarily by dead people.
- Residual Hauntings
- These types of hauntings are spirit playbacks of some sort of event that occured in the past. It's like playing a song on the CD player over and over again. The people seen in these hauntings are not really there, but rather an imprint of them has been recorded in Subtle Reality. Most commonly battles, and other traumatic events cause residual hauntings.
- Traditional Hauntings
- Dead people who stay in a particular location make up traditional hauntings. They often stay due to a strong connection to our physical reality. This can vary from love, to anger, pain or simply to a structure. Traumatic events will often cause someone to stay behind and haunt a location.
