History
The model now developed immensely form its for-runner the series I, although on the same wheelbase it now developed a "waist". The side panels were now attached to a lower edge sill to both hide and protect the chassis and the steering arms are now attached to the top of the swivels. The wipers were powered by separate independent wiper motors.

The vehicle was marketed at the farming and country community, with a range of extras utilising the PTO points. These included manure spreaders, sheep-shearing equipment, compressors, circular saws, hedge cutters and bulldozer blades all Land Rover approved.

Early vehicles used in hot dry climates were prone to cylinder head failure this effected the petrol and diesel engines. This was remedied by changing the casting techniques and material thickness during production.

The landrover look was now established and has continued throughout the vehicles development. The series II range continued in production until 1972 with models designated Series IIa and Series IIb.

CKD kits began to be exported to Spanish builder Santana under licence in 1958.
