Transportation can be found all over the world, ranging from your own two legs to the exotic elephants you can ride in Africa to expensive sport cars. Transportation is very important in any society,
with out a mode of transportation, a society can not function.

In Mainland China, there are three different classes of transportation: man powered mode of transportation like walking, biking, and high ended vehicles like Hondas, and Toyotas; and last but not least, make shift vehicals (vehicals made from recycled/used parts).

Bicycles seems to be the main mode of transportation used by most. I think the reason for this is that it is quite cheap to afford, is faster than walking, and you can use the bike to transport goods. The second most used transportation is the motorcycle. This is the second cheapest privately owned vehicle. It is faster than the bicycle; however it can't really be used to transport goods, because of of how it is configured, so it is usually used by people that work in the city. The truck is the third most popular mode of transportation. There are two very special trucks I saw a lot. One type was that the truck was a hybrid of a regular truck and a van. The head of the truck was that of a regular truck, but the rear/loading area of the truck was about the same as a big van. This mini truck almost looks toy like. The second type of truck I saw was a make shift truck. The truck frame has the different pieces of framing put together. The motor looked like it was ripped off from a tractor. The trucks were very noise since the motor is not a regular automobile motor and quite old, so it killed my ears whenever one of these trucks passed by. I guess they don't have noise pollution laws in mainland China!

The motorcycle on the left is one of the popular frame/chassis found in most motorcycles in China. The truck on the far right is a make shift truck, which I talked about earlier.

There seem to less and a more relaxed traffic laws in mainland China compared to Hong Kong, however I think according to statistics, there are less accidents in China then Hong Kong. Hong Kong has more accidents probably because there are more automobiles per square mile in Hong Kong than China, so the accidents rates natural are higher in Hong Kong.

took off the whole front axle of the bus, and they are doing this right in the
middle of the road!

Most people’s mode of transportation in Hong Kong is: walking, M.T.R. (Mass Transit Railway), bus, and cars. There are more cars in Hong Kong than mainland China probably because cars are more expensive than motorcycles, and do not have the storage/capacity of a truck, in other words, they don't excel in one area or the other. The cars in Hong Kong also usally are expensiv brands from Europe like the Roll Royce, Mercedes, Ferrari, Porsche etc. The M.T.R. is a very important factor in transportation for Hong Kong, because it provides access to a lot of locations in Hong Kong, and people commit on it with a daily basis, like going to school or work.
