I
was born in Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia. Locals
call it KL and growing up in this big city I had many fond
memories. All of them are of - funnily enough, are of my play
time!
I was quite an artist as a kid (yeah yeah whatever!). Honestly!
I use to draw comics for my friends at Primary, and drew pretty
pictures in our concrete house (and getting in trouble with
mum afterwards!). I was also quite a dirty little boy, I love
to play in the "long kang" (drain) with games such
as hide and seek with the neighbors. I use to hate brushing
my teeth or taking showers so I'd pretend I was doing these
activities by having the tap run in the background whilst
in the bathroom. heheheh I use to love playing on the monkey
bars with my best mate and badminton with my aunties and uncles.
I also use to love playing Chinese chess with my Uncle Ivan
the Chinese chess king. And my favorite times were in the
holidays, especially Chinese New Year, when the whole street
are a blaze with fire crackers, sky rockets and roman candles.
None of that crappy sparklers that kids play with nowadays.
We had the real thing!!!

My
family migrated to New Zealand when I was 11. New Zealand
was so different to Malaysia. In Malaysia we pass time by
playing mall rats, spending the whole day in shopping complexes,
hanging out with rellies and watching a whole lot of TV In
New Zealand I came to grips with this sports craze nation
and it's outdoor lifestyle. I picked up the Kiwi-slang and
adapted to the lifestyle quickly. I attended Howick Intermediate,
had the bestest teacher (Mrs Summerville!!!!) whom really
took an interest in my well being. I loved those early years,
as life was so much fun! I took on a paper run job as well,
delivering Eastern Courier, Howick and Pakuranga Times, Sunday
Star, The Herald and various flyers/pamphlet distribution.
From
Intermediate I went on to Pakuranga College (much fondly remembered
as pack-of-wankers college). Not much to say about the college
really...
After
College it was on to the Auckland Institute of Technology
to study for my National Diploma in Business Computing (NDBC).
AIT (or AUT as it is known now) was a great place. I met loads
of like-minded people, had lots of fun and really enjoy the
learning experience. As anyone can attest to this tertiary
education is a bucket of joy with a sprinkle of hard work
(ie CRAM!). I just wish I hung around longer!

I
worked after graduation, for Clear Communications (now known
as Telstraclear). Great company! It had the best people, all
young and motivated. I felt the company culture was excellent.
I guess having a great team and a great boss helps!
But
after 18 months, I have saved enough money to travel abroad.
I left Auckland to spend 8 months humping the road. I travel
through Asia and Europe and you can find out more of my trips
on the 'tripping page. By the time I arrive in London, I was
skint, exhausted and ready to settle!

Like
a million Kiwis before me, I got into London living. This
revolves around working for various job contracts, lots of
tube travel, lots of drinking at the pub and bar, engrossing
with Big Brother and East Enders, crashing after a heavy weekend
of clubbing and hibernating through the winter months. I also
spent time travelling whilst living in London. These included
trips to Sweden, the Netherlands, Italy and extended trips
to the Middle East and Japan.
My
two years in London went past quickly, and before I know it
was time to return home. But I wasn't ready to come home yet.
So I took a year off travelling through Asia. Hmm again, more
on those trips in my 'tripping page.

I
return to Auckland at the end of 2003. It was great to be
home after almost 4 years abroad, it was fantastic to see
my family and mates again. It was also nice to see that Auckland
has changed for the better. For a start there seem to be a
whole lot more people, the nightlife has picked up and the
city is thriving. With new hang out areas such as the Viaduct.
But I must admit it wasn't easy settling back, I do miss the
freedom that only the road can brings, along with the friendliness
of the travelling kind.
A
bit about my family. Besides mum and dad I have an older sister
and a younger brother. Kersyn, my older sister works in the
travel industry, and is real just as adventurous since she
travels everywhere too. Currently she resides in Melbourne,
Austriaaalia. And Kerhan, my younger and better looking brother
studying Biotechnology at the Auckland University. He's the
brain of the family, and I am waiting for the day he makes
his first million yours truly!

My
family loves pets and we had a cat and a dog. The cat is name
Elmo and she's one smart cat. She kept our house clean of
birds and rats and forever scaring neighbor's cats away. But
Elmo was jealous with our dog, a beautiful German Shepherd
name Spark. She was name Spark coz dad didn't wanna give her
a girlie sounding name. As if potential robbers would be less
likely to rob our house if we had a male dog (UH-DUH!).
Spark being the younger sibling was pretty stupid, she use
to steal Elmo's food during dinner, and was always rewarded
with a nasty cat swipe!
But in 2001 Elmo went AWOL, dad reckons she got sick of Spark
and decided to go on an extended road trip.
