What kind of muzik are YOU into?

My muzik taste includes most genre. Trance and Hi-NRG Trance are my current favorite sound. I love a driving base line with a MONSTER break down. I am also into hardhouse, nu-nrg and progressive house and have spent many weekends at clubs/raves/squat parties dancing away. The atmosphere at these venues are always good, the people are mostly friendly, talkative and very positive, hence you get a really good vibe. I seldom see fights or assault happening at these parties, compare to concerts or pubs so it's great to know that you are in a safe and happy environment!

I have been banging out a lot of trance lately, it's pretty hard not to with quality releases from Armin van Buuren, MIKE Push, Signum, Tiesto, PvD and friends. I won't name any tunes as I have too many, and by the time you read this I would be onto something new.

I am a bedroom DJ, my babies are a pair Technics 1200 MK5, a pair of Pioneer CDJ500 II decks, a Numark DXM06 Mixer and the Technics 1200 headphones. All very nicely setup!

London scene

Since I came to London the techno scene has really exploded for me, or more like opening my eyes to how much the "electronica" genre has evolved. There are so many sounds out there and clubs that caters for it. Every weekend I can catch a top DJ and dance my heart out until the early hours of the morning. The crowds here are more "up for it" as well, and different club has their own door "policy". I have partied in many clubs in London including The Fridge, Brixton Academy, Camden Palace, The Gallery, The End, The Spotted Dog, Heaven etc. My favorite club is the Fridge with it's dark interior, fantasticly loud sound system, a stage to dance on, the chill out bar and a friendly crowd. As for my favorite clubs they are Frantics, Antiworld, Logic, BecomeOne and Gatecrasher. Oh my gosh I love crasher kids and their outrageous clothing! Some memorable events including Tiesto's 5 hours set at Code in Birmingham, Gatecrasher's birthday 2002 in Sheiffield and the big Crasher events at the NEC Arena and the Summersound System. I LIKE!

Auckland scene

Wot scene??? I was wondering that as I return to Auckland in November 2003. I was worried that after having the best scene in London I will be sorely disappointed here. But thanks to a number of record store stocking the latest vinyls (only a week out from London I was promised), local clubs playing hard dance music and a number of big clubbing events organized monthly Auckland does not look too bad after all.

Recommendation:

Biggie.co.nz New Zealand's most up to date site on the clubbing scene. Member photos and an active message board keeps it interesting.
Harderfaster The English counterpart, a site I use to access daily for my dose of clubbing action. Knowing many of the members personally helps.
Above The Sky Tony Burt - DJ/Promoter and manager of Above The Sky. An online record store which stocks the latest and greatest vinyls. He happens to be a kiwi too and I is a very cool dude. Check it out!
