Over his career, Merle has been credited with having 102  TOP 100 RECORDED SINGLES. This tabulation doesn't include all the duets and guest vocals he's been involved with. Considering these other duets and guest vocals, his true count of top 100 singles is actually near or above 110.

Merle started his recording career in about 1962 when he started with Tally Records. After his number 10 hit "Strangers" in 1965, he moved to Capitol Records and stayed with them until about 1977. In 1977 Merle moved to MCA Records and stayed with them until the early 80's,
at which time he signed with Epic Records. In 1989 or 1990 Merle signed with his current label, Curb Records.

It wasn't until recently that we started collecting Merle's singles. We've followed his career since 1965, collecting mostly albums, after we started collecting his singles we've tried to gather all the information that we could about his charted singles. The greatest difficulty has been piecing together the duet and guest appearance singles he's participated on. The following Singles Discography, in all probability, is not complete. If you have specific knowledge of other singles, charted or otherwise, that is not included below; please email us with as much information regarding it
as possible, so that we can include it on this page.

The "Singles" information is laid out in this order:

Record Number,  Side "A", the highest chart position reached in parenthesis, the date it reached this position, / Side "B", the highest chart position reached in parenthesis, the date it reached this position, the Year Released

Example: T-181 "Just Between The Two Of Us" reached #28 on the charts on Sept 12, 1964, it's "B" side is "Slowly But Surely" with Bonnie Owens*....it was released in 1964.
