This is Zuma at the height (pun intended) of his career posing with Andre, The Giant (7' 6"), a wrestling legend.  They were both from Argentina and were great personal friends.  Sadly, Andre is gone now.
Zuma was a professional wrestler in the fifties.  He now has the best Italian restaurant in Rosemond, CA. I stopped there on my way to Death Valley.  Yum Yum!
"Badwater" is the lowest place in the western hemisphere (-282 ft).  The water is extremely salty because what little there is gathers in this lowest area and then evaporates leaving the salt behind (white area with people in background).  Sadly, two inches was too shallow for the kayak.  What an experience that would have been. . . kayaking in Death Valley.   I estimate the distance to the mountains to be over fifty miles.
View across Death Valley with some cars for scale.
"Artist's Pallette" is a multicolored rock formation.  The dot in the forground is a man climbing up to get a closer view.
Sunrise in Titus Canyon.  Titus is a 28 mile one-way dirt road open to four wheelers.  A very narrow, winding, and potentially dangerous road that climbs up and down the mountains and weaves through tight passes and crossbacks in the valleys.  The sights are worth it, especially if you start at dawn.!
View from the car window over the edge looking down at the road as it winds back into, then up and around the canyon.  Try to picture this enlarged thirty million times to get the full impact.  Good.  Now picture me rolling down the hill. . . I almost did.
Scotty's Castle is located in the heart of the Valley and is quite a story.  Basically, he was a hermit ("Death Valley Scotty") in the 1920's, and successfully conned a wealthy man into building this castle for him.  Anyone out there want to help another poor wanderer settle down?
