Developing an IEP(Individualized Education Program) for Achievement

Families are introduced to their role in developing and implementing an effective IEP for their children with special needs. This workshop provides a step-by-step overview of the IEP process and demonstrates how families can participate as equal partners in that process. Families also learn about the federal requirements for IEP's and the mandate that they participate as equal partners in IEP development.

Parent/Professional collaboration in the IEP Process

Partnerships take work and trust. This workshop focuses on collaborative teaming, communication, and advocacy. Specifically designed for parents and educators to learn these skills together.

Building Strong Relationships & Ensuring Effective Collaboration Between Families & Educators

In order for an appropriate and effective educational plan to be developed for a student with special needs, parents and schools have to be able to work together as a team. This presentation will address how both families and education professionals can build and maintain solid relationships, improving their ability to work effectively together. Topics discussed inlude: communication skills, professionalism, perspective, roles, and responsiblities of different parties, and repairing damaged relationships.

Positive Behavioral Supports for Children with Challenging Behaviors

Provides an overview of a cycle of failure that often results for students with behavioral challenges. Focuses on intervention with students who exhibit challenging behaviors. An emphasis on educational strategies helps students learn alternate behaviors that can lead to long-term change.

Challenging Behaviors

Concentrates on how to use positive techniques to understand challenging behaviors and establishing an environment that encourages desirable behavior in children.

Transition to Adult Life

A panel of organizations who specialize in transition to adult life, whether it is to work or to secondary education. Discuss and answer parents questions about the process of transition to adult life.
