Weyrling Information

Weyrling rules

They are not hard rules and I'm not a mean person... BUT... WHEN I ASK FOR A RETURN RESPONSE I EXPECT ONE. The rules are simple. And the amount of e-mail responses are few, considering.. But sometimes you will be expected to write.

Weyrling lesson RPG rules:

Please keep a copy of this on hand to refer to after the hatching. Print it, store it, tattoo it on your friend's head, whatever. You'll need to refer to this if you have any questions regarding how your persona should act, or react. I will start a Weyrling Lesson RPG after the Hatching. It will be marked with your group's name and the month and day of the class. Please, don't change the title, as it'll get confusing for me. For this RPG: it will be continuous, from day one till graduation 18 months from now . Each time a new lesson is to be taught, I will introduce it. Now, this could be extremely confusing if the following rules aren't followed:

These lessons and the RPG will be in chronological order. Each day of our time will constitute two days of Weyr time passing. Therefore, if you miss mailing for a day, it is assumed that your persona did nothing out of the ordinary, and we go on. ? If you miss mailing something out, and want to particularly respond to a certain mailing or lesson, do not change the title, just hit reply all, and answer normally.

Please, if I get too many responses where people seem to excel at a multitude of things, I'll start asking for Persona Sheet proof. By this I mean that I'll want the part of their Approved Persona sheet that says that the Human and/or dragon is higher than average in that skill. Don't get me wrong. I feel that almost every persona should have at least one excellence, and dragon should have at least one excellence... but too many will get boring, so let's keep a bit of realism in there, too.

There are several rules which must be obeyed to keep a Candidate status, or to keep from having restrictions put on a Weyrling. They are later in this message. If you break a rule... there are consequences. Once, we'll warn you and explain how you broke what rule, and what you should have done instead. Second time? We'll restrict the character in some way, and give you another explanation/ warning. Third? The character will be on permanent restriction until graduation, or you will have to find a way to prove why you should remain a candidate. You'll also get a third warning/ explanation. Fourth time? You lose the weyrling (depending on how serious the rules were that you broke, of course) or you permanently lose a candidate character. It is up to the BoD and the WLM to decide just how these losses occur.

If you don't agree with a rule, or a warning, let ME know. CC it to the BoD. We'll discuss it, and see exactly what can be changed to make the system work for everyone. Some rules are permanent, but it doesn't mean you can't try.

B'tein is like an Army Sgt. As you all will learn in the coming days, he can be a bit hard. If someone's life is on the line, he can be the meanest person you'd ever come across. He will ground Weyrlings if he feels it necessary. So, unless you arrange something with me privately for a necessary plot, I may react differently to a prank or joke from a Weyrling than I have to a Candidate. I like jokes, just arrange them ahead of time.

When I put something in Bold in the lesson, pay close attention to it. If that part is disobeyed, there will be H*LL to pay! I mean it. B'tein and Octenth and their assistants do not take deliberate disobedience well at all.

Have fun with it. I have laid down some rules here, but these are so it stays fun, and warns you ahead of time BEFORE mistakes are made. This list is so people can keep the flow of the RPG without accidentally slipping up. I plan to have a blast with the Weyrlings, and hope to enjoy what happens. We have a few personas with colorful backgrounds so go with the flow.

Please, don't be afraid to join in and try something within the rules. If you have a question as to whether something will work, let me know privately. I'll answer as soon as possible. Just send me what you would have written... in the same format you would write it publicly. That way, if time is really short for answers, I'll forward it to everyone and mail you simultaneously that it was okay.

Rules to play by:

THE FAMOUS NO-NO RULE: Weyrlings: NO kissing, hugging, touching, holding, or any other act related to sexual encounters. Sympathy is fine, we understand that... but it cannot go further. No slow dances without prior approval. Friendships are allowed, as we need friends, but you will not be able to further a romantic involvement, as your weyrling will be too busy working and training, as well as too physically drained, to try. Ask before you do anything with a relationship. I don't bite questioners.

THE NO LEAVING RULE: Candidates and Weyrlings are not to leave the Weyr at any time, under any circumstances, without three things:
A) An approved time off.
B) Another, mature, person, not weyrling or candidate, per weyrling or candidate in the group (Yes, one chaperone per ?youngling'.).
C) Express permission from the Weyrling Master and/or Weyrwoman or Weyrleader.

THE NO TORMENTING RULE: Yes, jokes and teasing can be fun in limited, good natured ways, but some people go too far with or without meaning to. So, we say this: No tormenting those with any sort of limitation or restriction, both authority wise or health wise (mental, physical, etc). NO picking on lower classmates or candidates, especially about training or lack of dragon. NO deliberately causing more work for someone else.

THE NO DARING RULE: NO daring a younger classmates, fellow classmates, candidate, or even an older classmate to do something without the WLM's permission. NO daring someone to do something they haven't tried before, especially where it would concern danger or injury.

NO INJURY/DANGER RULE: No killing of a Persona or NPC without prior approval from Morgan and the WLM.. In some cases you will need both of us to approve. If you are leaving the Weyr, please get prior approval from one of them before killing a weyrling or candidate. NO putting a character PC or NPC in the way of harm, and NO injuring a character without prior approval. Remember, dragonets are fragile, especially the wings, so think before you write.

NO TRICKS OR HOTDOGGING RULE: No trying something before you've been taught. This includes flying, riding a dragon, flaming, betweening, chewing firestone, and other training areas. It is not limited to the above list, so if you wish to try something new, drop me a line and I'll let you know I f you can. Anyone caught breaking this rule will risk losing their dragon immediately, if the trick can be harmful enough or includes others that might get hurt. This rule is not subject to the 4 warning rule.
If you don't know a rule, but you think it may be one, or should be one, let us know!! We are willing to discuss these, and possibly revamp them. There are only a few times in the whole 18 months where I'll contact you privately. The list, in order of private contact, will be mailed out in advance... so don't worry that you'll miss your chance to respond. Also, by a private email, it means simply that: it's private unless YOU decide to share it with everyone, as controller of the Weyrling.
