Candidate Info

To all you hopeful Candidates for the upcoming hatchings!
Following is what I hope is a helpful message to clear up any questions or misconceptions you might have about your status and duties in the Weyr during this interesting time.

Candidates do not need to sign in to the Weyrwoman. She has too much to do with the running of an entire weyr to take time out to listen to everyone's story. No, that's a job for the Candidate Master. Go and tell M?rac all about yourself! Include helpful information such as an immunization record and a history of all your allergies and illnesses.

Candidates are not weyrlings. (Hint: weyrlings have dragons already, candidates do not). After the hatching, if you are lucky and Impress, you will need to see the Weyrlingmasters. Until then, you should probably check in with M?rac, your wonderful Candidate Master.

Candidates have chores, see M?rac to find out what section you are in, and which horrendous task is yours to perform. It will probably be disgusting and dirty. Don't make M?rac mad. He disapproves of disobedience, and deals harshly with offenders.

Candidates are expected to obey the rules of conduct that bind any member of the weyr. If they break these rules, they will be considered as unworthy candidates, and could lose the Privilege (not a right, it's a privilege) to Stand on the Sands on Hatching Day.  Candidates are not allowed to drink wine or have intimate relations.

Candidates may not stand if they are ill, injured, pregnant, or in any way physically unfit to withstand the potential rigors and dangers of the hatching itself. Candidates may not stand if they are insane, unconscious, or in any way judged to be mentally unfit to be a companion to a dragon.

Ok everybody, do you know who you are and where to go? Please contact (not the whole mailing list!) if you have any questions about this whole thingamabob!
