The Zodiac are actually constellations in the sky. They are just like all other constellations. What makes them special is the fact that they travel in a path in the sky called the ecliptic path. This is the path that the moon and the planets travel on. In ancient days, our ancestors noticed this extraordinary path in which the planets and the specific zodiacal constellations move in. That is the reason why they believed the zodiac and the planets held such great significance.
There are altogether twelve zodiacs - Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Saggitarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces. Each zodiac has a distinctive character and feature. Each zodiac also symbolise either an animal, insect or symbol. For example, Libra is a sign of scales and Leo signify the lion.
Each zodiac starts from a certain date of a month and ends exactly on the same date next month. For example, Libra starts from 23rd September and ends on 23 October. And Scorpio starts from 23rd October and ends on 23 November. You may wonder what the zodiac of the person born on 23 October is. Well, the person is actually half Libra and half Scorpio. This is because the person is born on the cusp of both zodiacs. People born three days before or after the start and end of a zodiac are said to be born on the cusp. People born on the cusp are unique and have features of the both zodiacs they are born to. This makes them slightly unpredictable as you never know which personality they have adopted.
