Bellepoint Bridge

Bellepoint is a very small village right after the also small village of White Sulpher, located on 257 and 42 just outside of Delaware County, north of Columbus.
The bridge is just before you get to the church, on the left heading south. This bridge at one time crossed the Scioto River, but has been disabled for decades. Long ago, there were rumors that a man:

A) Hung himself there,
B) Killed someone and tossed their body off the bridge and
C) Killed someone and tossed their body off the bridge and then hung himself.
One of the Kooken daughters was thought to be the victim.

Since the town was founded in the early 1800's, and the Scioto River was was thought to be navigable from Columbus northward, the town of Bellepoint was founded. After the engineers discovered that the river was not nearly as deep as they had hoped, steamboat navigation was impossible. The development of Bellepoint came to a crashing halt.

Over time. the bridge has in serious disrepair and since 42 extends just a few miles up the road, the little village had no reason to repair the bridge.

I remember hearing local stories of Satanic cults operating in the area and that the bridge was the scene of a (s)/suicide(s)/rituals. I have not seen anything yet to support any of these assertions; however, based on my conversation with self proclaimed Ex-Satanist (in actuality he was a Devil Worshipper), his group as well as many other used to practice in this area. The bridge is directly across from Calhoun Road.

It is located on 257 and 42 just outside of Delaware County, north of Columbus. Be careful, State Route 257 is very hilly and sports many dangrous curves.
