The woods can be a place of both indescribable beauty and paralytic terror. From sites of supposed Satanic Rituals buried deep in the woods to random and senseless murders of the innocent, one's imagination can create more horrific scenes than that which actually occurred.
Darkness only serves to invoke primal feelings of being stalked and hunted, chased through the cold and dampness of the forest; still, we press on, sure that the snapping of the twig we just heard behind us was only in our imagination, only in our collective heads.
