Suzie's Grave
On the way to Fredericktown from Mt. Vernon, there is supposed to be an unmarked grave call Suzie's Grave. A few feet from the spot where she was buried many years, a fire consumed her family's house.
She died.
If you go to the spot where she died and say, "Suzie, I have your doll" you are supposed to hear her cry.
Erik, a friend of ours grew up in Mt. Vernon, as did my wife. One evening 15 years ago, he took me out driving so that I could learn to drive a stickshift. After punishing his clutch, he asked me if I wanted to see Suizie's Grave. After explaining the story, we went to the supposed location later at night and followed the instructions.
No one heard any crying at all, but it was spooky just the same.
I cannot remember the exact location of it, but after talking to a few people, no one agrees on the actual site. In fact, there are variations on Suzie's grave all across the country.
