How long has the site been running and why did it start?
The site has been running since April last year. We were talking about doing it for a while beforehand, however it was only talk, last April we were driving nearby so we decided to pass Queen Elizabeth's Boys school to see if it had changed (it hadn't) and we realised that even though we had left QE Boy's about 4 years ago we still had so much pent up anger over the way we were treated there and basically went home and wrote the site that evening - it took the best part of a couple of evenings to write the basic site and we've had various transformations since then whenever we meet up and have the time - we had no problems with site content, we just wrote straight off the top of our heads and had no need for amendment to the content before we started it - we try our best to filter out obscenities and blatant slagging off of people especially of past students - we are not a hate site, we only want to share our experience with other current and previous students and help vent some of the anger towards the school. We do not feel the school has let us down academically, but definitely in all other aspects of our secondary education - we had no idea just how much until we moved further afield to college and university - five years, at an impressionable age, at a school that represses your sense of individuality does lead to a lot of resentment - we have had literally 100's of emails from current/former QE Boy's students saying how much they respect what we are doing and telling us about their experiences - that is what it is all about, and by students making their thoughts known on the message board and through articles helps them to progress and move on. We appreciate all emails you send us and we do reply to all of them.
Who is behind it?
There are two of us from North London who run the site, both at university.
Have you eclipsed the official QE Boys school yet?
Yes, we have noted on the site that the message counter was removed from the official QE Boys page as soon as the number of visitors to our site overtook theirs (I think it was around 2500 visitors - I think after the site had been up roughly 6 months) - thought I'm sure this MUST have been a coincidence. (We've currently had over 10,000 visitors and rising...)
Are you worried about looking bitter and twisted about your school days?
No, not at all, anyone who went to the QE Boys understands exactly where we are coming from, we are not bitter, but we do feel that we want to make it known exactly what does go on inside the school. We have many more articles to go up and we do not see an end to our site in the near future. The effect of QE Boy's will stay with you for your entire life and it takes a strong person to not be affected by it in any way.
Have you been threatened with any legal action / are you worried?
Yes, we have been threatened indirectly and three boys at the school (that we know of) have been suspended over submitting articles/messages to our site - they have been suspended for 1 week, 2 weeks and 6 weeks - these were not people who wrote untrue or unjust accusations about the school, but ordinary students who wrote nothing but how they felt - this is typical of the schools' mentality, instead of addressing the problem and maybe seeing that our points have a solid founding they are undergoing a campaign of suspensions and warnings in assemblies and form groups about what will happen to boys who view and contribute to our site. The school has also taken a policy of logging students' user names who view our site from the school and them ask them about it, they are trying to find out who is running the site and also to find out who is submitting articles and messages to the site.
How do you cover your tracks? i.e. preserve your anonymity Don't be too technical but give me a taste.
We have no great desire to preserve our anonymity for fear of legal action, we have posted on the site many times that all people (including the school) need do is email us about anything considered untrue and we will remove the offending statement immediately, we are here to tell the truth - not lies, however we have had no complaints - and we have even emailed the school to confirm our commitment to the truth (with no response received). We only really want to keep anonymity as it means we won't have pointless threatening letters from the school - if they disagree with anything we are doing they only need email us and tell us and we will happily remove/alter anything on the site if it is considered unjust - qetruth@hotmail.com.
What sort of people have been leaving messages?
Just ordinary students, we have had messages and emails from people who were involved in many aspects of running the school, we know many teachers at the school view the site - however we doubt any of them have left messages!
Anything else you want to add about the site.
You may be interested to know there are also two other Internet sites related to our (see our links page) - a Hate site and QE 'scandals', we didn't know them at QE Boy's but we keep in regular contact with the people who run both sites.
Also it is important to again state that three boys have been suspended by the school for looking at our site - for one week, two weeks and six weeks for submitting an articles and messages - so much for freedom of speech - but have no fear - we do keep all emails and messages confidential.
If you need any other information see the link to our own message board on our site, this should give you more insight into what has been happening with relation to the school and our site or email us back.
