Valencia Hall Historical and Preservation Coalition Community joins together to save the last two buildings of FA Hihn's 'Town of Valencia'.

Why Save Hihn's Hall and the Post Office-General Store by Carolyn Swift, member Santa Cruz County Historical Resource Commission.

The Valencia Park ComplexThe future park as envisioned by the architects and planners.

Background history of  the Town of Valencia,
Valencia Hall and the General Store - Post Office buildings

Beginnings of Valencia - Joaquin Castro Joaquin Castro's immigration to Santa Cruz County in 1798 would lead to land holdings which included Valencia.

Beginnings of Valencia -FA Hihn Frederick A. Hihn, a young German emigrant came to Santa Cruz County in 1851, was the visionary of the Valencia area.

The Town of Valencia Hihn's busy mill town with a meeting hall, Post Office, general store, stagecoach stop, apple industry and railroad spur.  Want to buy a building lot with city water? It'll probably cost you $200.

Valencia Hall Built by Hihn as the recreation and meeting hall for the lumberjacks, mill workers and their families.  We're going to have a Potluck Dinner soon and you're invited.

The Post Office The Post Office - General Store - Stagecoach Stop was built in 1882 by Hihn's carpenters.  Come sit on the bench and catch up on the local gossip. "Did you hear they took down Hank's barn and hauled it to Corrallitos cause Ned needed a barn. This happened while Hank was in San Francisco a few weeks ago?" This was what you might hear.

The Valencia Mill Hihn's Valencia Mill was built in the 1870's and was the main employer. We beat the pants off the Loma Prieta Mill in a contest by milling 143,000 board feet in 6 hours. A collection of images.
