February 1997 -- The Beginning |
It all started with a simple question: "Did you know that we can get a free home page from GeoCities?"
With a seemingly innocent question, the world of the SIAs was turned upside down. Our first step was a futile attempt to register at GeoCities and find a vacant lot. After this disappointment, we searched for other sites which provided free home pages. This led to our "first" EZPage site.
It was really quite simple. We typed in pieces of information and voila! About half an hour later, we had our site posted. This led to much excitement. So much so, in fact, that we managed to forget to sleep. However, our elation burst like a bubble when we received an e-mail message from the EZPage people telling us that this site was not *really* free. We would have to pay after two weeks. This drove us to send e-mail messages to everyone we know, begging them to check out our site. We considered, then, to look at other providers of free home pages. (Oddly enough, we found that our EZPage site is still in place, even after two weeks.)
We found our second "home" at Angelfire. We were kind of tired by then, and our enthusiasm had died somewhat, so we became very impatient with its editor. We left Angelfire disappointed.
We tried to find a vacant lot at GeoCities again and we succeeded. Hallelujah! We basically did the same home page as the EZPage site. We haven't really made our page "good" yet, but we were persuaded (by the numerous advertisements) to join the GeoRewards Program.
We were feeling very satisfied to have moved into GeoCities. However, one day, we received an e-mail message from the GeoRewards Program telling us that our site wasn't "developed enough." Needless to say, we were crushed. However, they sent us another message telling us that they were finally admitting us to the GeoRewards Basic Program. Perhaps they had seen our updated version of the site.

We are now always striving to better our site in every way possible. This is difficult because we do not have the necessary technical knowledge. We have been trying to learn as much as we can from the web.
And so we march in quest for Development.

A few months later . . . |
We have now maintained this site for about four months. Through these months, our site has undergone changes -- from new addition of sections, to the latest revision: a drastic re-designing of the site's look. |
We are also proud to mention that we have acquired more HTML knowledge. And that we have used this new knowledge to better our site. However, more learning needs to be done. |
Again, we strive to improve this site the best we can. |

And so we march in quest for Development. |

A proud moment . . . |
We are so proud to say that, on July 18, 1997, Rotunda d' Sias was chosen as a "Featured Page" by GeoCities. |
We thank our Heartland Community Leaders and GeoCities for their confidence in Rotunda d' Sias. We will continue to update and/or change this site, and make sure we deserve our "feature" status. |

And so we march in quest for Development. |

YAHOO! Another Proud Moment |
One lazy Friday afternoon in January, we were browsing the YAHOO! Internet Life site. To our surprise (we almost fell off our seats!), we found that our site's The Ländler section was featured in YAHOO! Internet Life's Yippee/Ya-Hooey. |
With the help of a contributing writer for YAHOO! Internet Life, we contacted Mr. Howard Sherman, the Senior Online Editor for the site. We asked for persmission to include the Yippee/Ya-Hooey write-up of our site, and he generously provided us with the YAHOO! Internet Life logo to use. |
Our site was featured in YAHOO! Internet Life's January 5, 1998 Yippee/Ya-Hooey section. We now display the logo provided by Mr. Sherman throughout our site, with a link to the January 5 '98 issue and the favourable write-up of our The Ländler section. |
