What I did on my summer vacation

This issue is at least two weeks behind schedule for which I apologize to my readers. The combination of learning html coding and the summer's heat have caused a breakdown of the *press.*

Learning html code has been quite interesting. I spent almost two weeks working on a new page one, but then I failed to save it in the right format. It took some doing, but I finally have it just the way I like it.

This issue should have a more readable format since I am also trying to make a template for future issues. I received some feedback from the first issue and I am trying to incorporate some of that information in this issue.

One reader suggested I start an archive of back issues. Now that Plain-Old News has a back issue, readers may be looking for it. Sorry, that will just have to wait until I learn how to code and save those issues. That will be a good project for the next issue.

I also received some comments on the Russian monument. Sorry folks - you'll have to figure that one out for yourselves.

If we can keep the summer heat at bay, look for new issues about every two weeks. I hope to keep up with the schedule once I have my templates straightened out. Also, don't forget to *subscribe,* I will send notices out when each new issue is completed.

June has been one crazy month. We finally bowed to the heat and bought air conditioners. Actually, it was quite a deal. Rick White's co-worker recently installed central air, so he had two window units for sale and it didn't take long for us to say yes.

Unfortunately, this old house doesn't have quite enough *juice* for the larger air conditioners, so we have been stressing our electric system with this latest addition. It's also been hard on the computers. First it's really too hot for them, then I'm not sure we have enough electricity to run the computer and the air conditioner.

Also, thank you for not mentioning it, but no, we still do not have a Happenings page. Just a sign of things to come!

Send a letter!

Dear Abbey,

My brother recently returned home from college. It's kinda all right since he did bring his computer home too, but now he won't let me play any of his games and it's supposed to be for all of us.

He's really being a jerk too. He uses my t.v., but he keeps losing the remote. Then I have to hunt all over the house to find it. I finally just hid it in a secret spot, but now he's complaining about that too.

He also uses my phone all the time. It's supposed to be my phone. I got it for my birthday and graduation. It's really annoying. My friends try to call me and he just ignores the call-waiting beep.

Is there any way to make him stop annoying me? I'm afraid I'm going to lose all my friends if they keep trying to call and he won't let me answer the phone.

Frustrated sister

Dear Frustrated,

Methinks you complain too much. You are enjoying the use of your own personal phone, your own personal t.v. and he's withholding the computer?

Hmmmm, perhaps you can work out some sort of a deal here. It seems with all the extras you already have, you should be thankful and cooperative.
