If Someone Came Back From The Dead

You Must Be Mad ... I'll Be Dead

Take Another Look

You say "I'm innocent!"

You Say “I'm Innocent!”

You say “I’m innocent!” “It wasn’t me!” more often than you realise. You don’t like to be caught out so you proclaim your innocence. In truth, its something we all do, isn't it? We certainly don’t think of ourselves as people who are “guilty” even if we are. We can always find someone who is worse than us to make us look good or “innocent”. But it’s not what we think that matters, we are not the judge of what is right and wrong, He is and it’s His opinion that counts not ours. He says “You say, ‘I’m innocent; He’s not angry with me’” but is it really true?

It’s Jesus’ opinion that counts in the end, not yours, He is the Judge. He says that the murderer will go to hell. You would probably say “I’m innocent, I’ve never killed anyone”. Jesus says that if you have anger in your heart towards someone you come under the same judgement! Can you still say “I’m innocent”? I can’t.

He says that the adulterer will go to hell (i.e. sex outside of marriage). Maybe you would say “I’m innocent”. But Jesus went on to say that anyone who lusts after a woman has already committed adultery with her in his heart. Can you now honestly say “I’m innocent”? I can’t.

He says that drunkenness will prevent people from entering the Kingdom of God. Maybe you have never touched any alcohol and you are proud of that. Well I’ve bad news for you “God opposes the proud.” If you still think you are innocent you are just kidding yourself. I know I’m not innocent.

God says: “You say, ‘I’m innocent; He’s not angry with me.’ But I will pass judgement on you because you say, ‘I have not sinned’.”

That is what you are saying when you proclaim your innocence - that you have not sinned. The thing is that God knows everything, even your thoughts so it is useless trying to hide your guilt from Him.

Why do you do it? One reason is that you don’t really think that He will be impressed with your performance and that’s absolutely right! He says that all your finest efforts are like the most vile and disgusting thing to Him. This all shows us how holy and pure God is, He cannot even look upon evil. He must punish sin. The punishment is eternal death - eternity in Hell, if you must pay for it yourself.

But God is also loving and merciful. He doesn’t want people to go to hell. He doesn’t want to punish YOU. Therefore Jesus took the punishment for your sin upon Himself so that you can go free. Yes, so that you can go free. He died in your place. This way He satisfies His holiness by punishing your sin on the cross and expresses His love to you by giving up his own life for yours - even though you might not care about him. The full price for sin has been paid. Then Jesus rose from the grave, alive forever!

He wants you to come to Him, turning from your sin and putting your hope in Him alone, not in your own efforts. If you believe that he really died for you personally, then call on Him now and receive His forgiveness and the certainty of eternal life.

“Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him.” John 3:36

If you can’t admit your guilt before God how can you ever hope to receive His forgiveness?
