Searching for Darlington District, SC info of the family of CAPTAIN GEORGE KING (1725-1780) and MARY KOLB (dau of Johannes Kolb (b. 1683 in Germany) of the Pee Dee area near Society Hill). Timeperiod: About1750. One of their sons was Rev. George King, a minister in Darlington and later in Alabama.

Ezekiel Norwood, SR (1796-1834) married Elizabeth Margaret Witherington (dau of Wm Witheirngton, Jr.) in Feliciana Parish, LA in 1818. Ezekiel was the son of Samuel and Martha Waddell Norwood.

I am decendant of Eli S. Norwood. Married an Anna Rust in Sussex County, DE. Children were Anna Rust Norwood, John Norwood, others unknown. Eli just shows up in Sussex County in 1760's. He has a brother Noble Norwood who comes to Sussex later it is unknown from where. Both are noted as being Native American. Eli was able to intergrate very well into the community which is known for it's coldness towards strangers. Their children have intermarried with the remnants of the Nanticoke/Lenape Indian tribe which resided in Southern Maryland off of the Nanticoke River. The tribe was relocated to the Indian River Reservation in Sussex County Delaware. Eli's decendants are still there. I am one of them and fully acculturated as a Nanticoke Indian. If anyone knows of these two individuals or there is any information on Native Americans who may have adopted the NORWOOD name please correspond with me. All responses would be greatly appreciated. This site by the way is really great. Also now in understanding the meaning of "Norwood" I know why Natives would have chosen it for an English Name. The name "War Man" could very well describe an Indian Scout or Fighter. Good Luck to all and May the Creator keep you at peace.
