Elijah Phifer was born in April of 1850 in Tennessee to John Phifer Sr. and Sarah (Sally) Warrick. Elijah was a farmer in District #7, Harmons Creek/Halls Valley Community in Benton Co., Tennessee.

Elijah married Araminta (Minta A.) Warnick on November 26, 1867 in Benton Co., TN. (Note: The marriage license was obtained on this date but never registered.) Araminta was born in April of 1849 in Tennessee to Hiram Warnick and Charity Melton. (Note: Both Elijah & Araminta's birth dates vary in the census.)

Elijah Phifer died about 1904. Araminta's death date is unknown at this time but they are both listed in the 1900 Benton Co., TN census in District 7, #42. It is believed that they are both buried in unmarked graves in the Phifer Cemetery in the Halls Valley Community in Benton Co., TN.

Elijah Phifer and Araminta Warnick had seven known children.

(Note: She listed in the 1900 census that eight children were born but only 7 were living.)

1. William Phifer was born in 1869 in Tennessee. He was last listed at home in the 1880 Benton Co. census, age 11. Nothing further is known at this time.
2. Sion (Simon) J. Phifer was born in December of 1871 in Tennessee. He married Lou Aider Phifer on Nov.22, 1891 in Benton Co., TN, by Frank P. Wheatley, JP. Lou was born in 1875 in Tennessee to Johan Phifer and Martha Elizabeth Berry.
3. Lou F. Phifer was born in 1874 in Tennessee. (She may have married James K. Wheatley in 1892.) Lou married William Sexton in 1893 in Benton Co., TN. Lou may have died between 1894 and 1900. Her daughter, Lilly Sexton is living with grandparents in 1900.)
4. John D (H.) Phifer was born in 1876 in Tennessee. He married twice, first to Eva Myers in 1895 in Benton Co., TN & secondly to Myrtle Bursey in Sept. of 1909 in Benton Co., TN, by Felt Farmer. John died in 1960 & Myrtle died in 1962. John & Myrtle are buried in the Ramble Creek Cemetery in Benton Co., TN.
5. Marion L. Phifer was born in 1879 in Tennessee. He was not at home with his parents in 1900. Nothing further is known at this time.
6. Vidona Phifer was born in Feb. of 1883 in Tennessee.
7. Henry Phifer was born in July of 1890 in Tennessee.
