3 Henry Farmer II, b. before 1696, d. 1753. He was the father of 4 Elam Farmer. He left no will because he had deeded his property to some of his children before his death. (Chesterfield Order Book 1, p. 201, June 1752 proports to his son 4 William, p. 216 August 17, 1752 - property to his son 4 Lodowick: Deed Book 1, pl 451. July 1750, property to his son 4 Henry 101 acres.) There is no record that he deeded property to his son 4 Elam.

However, the father and son relationship is evident from the following: 3 Henry Farmer II's wife was Sarah Ward, daughter of Edward Ward and his wife Elizabeth Elam, who was the daughter of Gilbert Elam, Sr., a large land owner of Chesterfield Co. 3 Henry Farmer III's wife Sarah named one of their sons 4 Elam, which was Sarah's mother's maiden name. They also named another son 4 Lodowick. They had a relative named Lodowick Elam and a neighbor named Lodowick Tanner. Sara Ward Farmer's father, Edward Ward, was the grandson of Seth Ward. She named one of her sons Seth for her great grandfather and for her uncle, both of whom were named Seth Ward. (See Ward family in Addenda.)

Her son 4 Seth Farmer in his will (W B 1, pl 226) left property to the sons of his brothers 4 William, 4 Lodowick and 4 Joel and his sister 4 Ann, which are the names of two of the sons of 3 Henry Farmer II, to whom he deeded property. 4 Elam and 4 Lodowick Farmer, brothers, married two sisters, Phebe and Sarah, the daughters of Benjamain Cheatham. 4 Elam Farmer in his will (B. 3, p. 307) named two of his sons 5 Henry and 5 Lodowick, which are the names of two of 4 Elam's brothers. • 4. Lodowick Farmer, d. in 1780, m. Sarah, daughter of Benjamin Cheatham and his wife Grace Williams of Amelia Co., Va. She died in 1789. 4 Lodowick Farmer took the oath as the Lieutenant of the Militia of Chesterfield Co. (Order Book 2, page 481, December Court 1758). He took the oath as Assistant Sheriff to Edward Osborne, Order Book 2, page 436, July court 1758. He became justice of the peace in May 1761, Order Book 3, page 123. He moved to Lunenburg Co., Va., about 1762. He was a member of the House of Burgesses from Lunenburg Co. 1769-70-71 and 76; member of the Convention of Virginia from Lunenburg Co., May 6, 1776, at Williamsburg, Va.
