THROW STONES IN A CREEK! An enjoyable pastime for grownups and children alike. Take a picnic lunch and stay for the afternoon. In this pic, Julian has just thrown a rock and is looking to see how far it goes. The yellow bucket is holding the rocks he and his Dad collected for the throwing. We saw one single fish too and it swam right up to us.

The very first picture Julian ever drew that was not just a design, but a drawing of something in the real world, was a river. He did it on the chalkboard and when he kept saying "river" I wasn't convinced that he knew what he was talking about. So to test it out and see if he knew what he was talking about I asked him to name something that's in a river. After long and careful thought he replied, "Fish." I believe it was the fish in this creek that he was thinking of. (I was expecting him to say water, but I guess he assumed that, duh, of course Mom knows there's water in a river!)
