Welcome to the
"WEEKLY THEME"

School's IN for a new year!
Our school year began on July 17, 2000 and we are doing Alpha Omega Life Pacs for our 4th grader! So far, so good!
We are going on a lot of family field trips and field trips with our support group. They seem to get more out of it, when there are not a lot of other children around. We have been to the Huntsville Space and Rocket Center with a Tour Guide, we have been to the Montgomery Zoo, the B'ham Zoo. I have found that it really makes the field trip a lot better, when you have a guide that can tell you things from more of a "hands on" direction, and since they work there, they can let you know what you can do, and what you can't do.
With home schooling our children are basically learning 24/7, 365 days a year! However, we finish the "required" subjects (that I choose), and our required number of days; then we have the rest of the real year for me to make sure they "got it"!!! Some people do testing; others just do checking through the year or "surprise fun sheets" after the fact to check and see for themselvers if their children are ready to go on! I like to try and prepare my children for the "what if's" of life NOW so they do not feel "thrown" into taking a test when they are older and wanting to go to college. However, I do not compare them to anyone else! Just to what they need to know, when! The great thing about home schooling is that we are in control of what they learn, when and to what degree!
