Our July meeting was outdoors this time. It was at a beautiful park called Belleview Park. The park had a stream running right down the middle of it where all the children waded and played. It also had a train that drove around the park and a petting zoo at a minimal cost.
We had 8 Moms and 1 Dad this time in attendance. Everyone brought a sack lunch. The kids had a great time in the stream.
We spent quite a bit of time on curriculum, since a few of us had gone to the Christian Home Educators of Colorado (CHEC) conference in June. This is held annually for 3 days. The first day is set aside for new parents that will homeschool. A few of us brought books, newsletters, flyers, brochures back from the conference to share.
One new Mom that joined us came from Oklahoma City. She had started up a support group back there about 15 years ago. It has now grown so large that it has broken up into many smaller groups. She showed me their newsletter, which was awesome!
We spoke about eventually expanding and therefore, needing a treasurer and perhaps requiring monthly dues.
Our next meeting for August was scheduled.
