"This is Craig Steckler, President of the California Police Chiefs Association. I have announces that we have withdrawn our endorsement of Assembly Member Mike Machado for the California Senate.
Mike Machado's behavior in the last session of the legislature, and in particular his vote to hamstring local law enforcement with a state-mandated program of binding arbitration for labor issues, was simply inexcusable.
He was, no doubt, under pressure, but no more than any other legislator. The difference was, Mike Machado buckled under that pressure.
We have never in our history switched an endoersement, but we do now;
Mr. Machado's opponent is a man of exceptional character - Dr. Alan Nakanishi, Lodi physician and councilman.
Alan Nakanishi has the temperment and the integrity to do the right thing. We in the California Police Chiefs Association are proud to endorse him for State Senate."
Announcer: Nakanishi for senate, because integrity does matter. Alan Nakanishi - leadership, for a change.

Transcript - Nakanishi Radio: "Tell it all"
Mike Machado is trying to pull a fast one - again - by quoting from an old newspaper story from the archives as though it were about the current issues Machado has been dodging.
Tell us, Mike. What did the newspapers say about your vote to send our tax dollars to San Francisco?
And what did the newspapers say about the "No Limits" fundraiser held in your honor this week by Mayor Willie Brown, as a "thank you" tribute for your vote?
Tell us about the front-page News-Sentinel story detailing your angry outbursts and the ethnic and racial slurs you hurled at your opponent, as well as the Stockton Record editorial chastising you for your - quote - "hateful speech."
And do tell - about your Utility Deregulation bill that doubled and tripled electric rates in San Diego, and is now scheduled to do the same here in the Valley.
If your going to quote the paper, Mike, quote it all.
