WHAT IS LUCK?
There are two standard definitions of luck (if you can think of any others please let me know)
To prove my point that luck is a state of mind rather than a state of being I will prove the second theory to be 'cobblers'.
According to the BYHT, a person is lucky when a big yellow hand (which we can't see - for obvious reasons) floating around the universe chooses that person to be lucky for that moment in time.
To me this particular person sounds to have been rather jammy, flukey, in fact they were quite lucky that that big yellow hand pointed to them. So, according to our BYHT, this means that at that particular moment in time another, seperate, big yellow hand was pointing towards them.
We then ask 'where did that yellow hand come from?'. The answer: it too was floating round the universe looking for someone to choose, it picked on that person, so the person was lucky, so yet another big yellow hand was floating over them at that moment in time, where did this come from? ...... etc, etc, etc.
i.e. to be lucky you must first be being lucky - a contradiction in itself, but is convincingly proved wrong because we know that luck comes and goes and does not hang around one specific person.
So as was stated - luck is no more than a state of mind. Think positive - be positive.
