The Fashion Game
I guess I've never been fashionable, maybe it's because I've never had the money to be. Even so, I've never really wanted to play the 'fashion game'.
An important point to make is that fashion is not style.
There are many styles about, but not all are in fashion.
My answer to anyone who questions my style as not being fashionable is
Apart from leaving people bewildered, this means that I have the right to be myself.
People should choose a style they think suits them best, and mold the style around themselves. Not choose a style that is in fashion and mold themselves around that style.
I know alot of people hate standing out in a crowd, but there is alot to gain from being differnet.
Attracting attention is not all that bad and, for open minded poeple, it may even create a talking point about why you like your clothes and appearence. It is nice to be able to explain why you like something other than saying, "Well, its what everyone else likes".
I avoid being fashionable like its going out of fashion.
Even though I'm only 20, I have the middle-aged-man-habit of knowing what I like. If I like a jumper or shirt, I tend to wear it over and over until it eventually gets holes and has to be thrown away.
I still have ( and wear ) a jumper that I bought about two years ago. its not in a bad shape but, to my disappointment, the name sewn on the front came into fashion this summer. So, in about a few months time, when another name takes its place, people will constantly approach me to tell me that my jumper is not fashionable anymore - so my jumper will suddenly become dated, something which would not happen if it had never been fashionable.
The problem with fashion, is that you can never get to like your own style too much.
After a year-or-so you'll have to change and pretend that the last style was just some teenage phase you were going through.
What would you prefer to be :
Normal or Perfect?
