1800 census. Martha may have been Thornton's sister. John was a
farmer worth $100 in 1860.

On the 1900 census, John D., wife Martia, two daughters Missouri
and Ellen F., and a grand daughter, Esari M. are all living near
the family of Graig B. Wilson. John gave the birth place of both
parents as Virginia.
His wife Martia (Martha) gave her parents birth place as Maryland
and Kentucky.

On 1920 census, John's wife Martha is living with her son in law
Myron Van Riper, John is not listed so must have died prior to the
census.
