Voice of God

Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.
Where there is no vision, the people perish.

Every person place and thing has a unique part to play in God's creation. He has a purpose for us, somethig we are to do for this world. Unfortunatly, this calling is not always clear to us.

God desires to communicate to and through his people. He does this using the Bible, dreams, visions and prophetic words.

Bible

The Bible is the living word of God. It's words are true for all people at all times in all circumstances. The Bible is inspired by God and is used for doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness. It is of greater importance than and must be used to judge any other source of knowledge.

Dreams, Visions and Prophetic Words

God, through his Holy Spirit, will speak to his people today. While he is not bound to any method, these are some ways he speaks to us.

Normally dreams are for the person recieving them. When given to a ruler, it can also be for his domain.

A vision gives purpose for our activities. It is a picture of how things are or should be. We use our vision when making our plans and goals in life. Without a vision, everthing becomes pointless and we stop caring about what we are doing.

Prophecy does not have its origin in the will of man, but men speak from God as they are carried along by the Holy Spirit. Everyone who Prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort.

Useing Words

When a person gives a word from God those listening must examine it to see if it meets the standards set by the Bible. If it does not then it must be rejected.

The word of God is a powerful weapon to be used durring prayer. The sword of the Spirit is defined as God's word. Jesus used this constantly while on earth. When he returns he will use this sword to strike down Satan's kingdom.

Keeping a prayer journal is a common practice among intercessors. When we are in a state of prayer, we are more aware of of God's speaking to us. To write down your impressions during prayer allows you to go back and think about what God was been speaking. Done over time, you will begin to see the bigger picture of God's plans.
