The original name was spelled "Parris" but later descendants changed it to Paris, Parish, Parrish, etc.spouse: >The Parris family came from England to Barbados, West Indies. Brothers Samuel (of Salem Church fame) and Thomas moved to America late 1680 (Boston area).
The brother's father was named Thomas Parris from London, England. He visited America at age 21 in 1622 and his visit was recorded by Colony Governor Thomas and brother John had plantations on Barbados (There is still a Parris Plantation on Island of Nevis in W. Indies. Both men are buried on Barbados and there are many Parris families there. Many are black as the slaves often took the name of former masters when they were freed.

Pepin the Short (Pepin III), c.714-768, the first Carolingian king of the Franks (751-68). In 751, Pepin III deposed Childeric III, the last Merovingian king. He overthrew the Merovingian dynasty and had himself crowned king with the support of Pope Zacharias. Pepin defended papal interests and in 754 turned over to the pope what became the foundation of the PAPAL STATES. He was the father of CHARLEMAGNE.

GA census + marriage licenses books A,B,C; marriage bond dates, Caswell + Granville Cos., N.C.; Pittard family histories from Henry H. Byrom, genealogist, Mesquite, TX + Gertrude Stephens, Lilburn, GA. Five of his sons went to GA between 1797 and 1825 or so. In the year 1990, Georgia and Texas seem to have the most Pittards in the United States, descended from the five brothers.
