Join the Rev. Gene Preston and friends of Community Church Hong
Kong on a visit in peace and hope to the Holy Land. Our tour will
focus on biblical sites and especially those places associated with
Jesus and events of the New Testament, but will also provide visits
to classical sites as well as a good chance to enjoy modern Israel
and Jordan and to meet with opinion makers of the Israeli and Arab
communities there.
THU, Oct 22 FLY and AMMAN
Depart Cathay Pacific from Hong Kong for Amman connecting with
Royal Jordanian in Bangkok. Depart Hong Kong at 09:25 arrive Amman at
l820. Met by our Jordanian agent, check through passport control and
customs. Dinner and overnight at Jordan Intercontinental.
FRI, Oct 23 JORDAN AND ISRAEL
Check-out of hotel, drive to Jerash to see amphitheater and other
main sites of one of the best preserved and most magnificent Roman
ruins in the classical world. Cross the Allenby Bridge through
Israeli passport/customs. Met at border by our Israel guide and bus;
afternoon arrival at Massada for lunch and cable car ride to the top
of the rock fortress and visit the ruins where 2,000 years ago Jewish
martyrs withstood Rome. View from a distance the Qumran Caves and the
Dead Sea below. Arrive in Jerusalem at sunset to observe the start of
the Jewish Sabbath at the Wailing Wall. Dinner and overnight at the
Hyatt Regency overlooking Jerusalem.
SAT, Oct 24 JERUSALEM
After breakfast drive to the nearby Mount of Olives for panoramic
view of Jerusalem and orientation by Pastor Preston and local guide.
Visit the place of Ascension, then walk down the hill to the Church
and Garden of Gethsemane. Visit the Basilica of All Nations. Drive to
West Jerusalem to visit with rabbi and congregation of Kehilat Kil
Haneshame Synagogue. Kosher lunch with several Jewish guests.
Afternoon drive to Hebron and visit the Ibrahimi Mosque and Mamre
(tombs of the Prophets). Return via Bethlehem to visit the Basilica
of the Nativity and the nearby Milk Grotto. View the Shepherd's
field. Brief shopping opportunities for artisan work like olive wood
and mother of pearl objects of art. Return to Hyatt for dinner.
Optional evening of entertainment with those with the energy.
SUN Oct 25 JERUSALEM
After breakfast drive to Jaffa Gate of Old Jerusalem. Visit the
Citadel Museum and the wall. Walk through the Old City to worship at
English-language congregation. Visit the Dome of the Rock with its
magnificent mosque, generally considered the most beautiful mosque in
the world, and Al Aksa, formerly one of the greatest Byzantine
churches. Walk through the Old Jewish Quarter (Cardo). Lunch at the
East Jerusalem roof top Capitolina Hotel rest-aurant. Drive to West
Jerusalem to visit the Israel Museum, Shrine of the Book, and Ein
Karem (the home of John the Baptist). Stop at Yad Vashem Holocaust
Memorial. Dinner at the Hyatt Regency.
MON Oct 26 MEDITERRANEAN
Check out of hotel and drive to Jaffa visiting biblical Emmaus en
route. At Jaffa visit the Church of Peter and the House of Simon the
Tanner. Lunch on own and time for shopping at the delightful Jaffa
harbor waterfront. Afternoon drive along the Mediterranean coast to
Caesarea Maritima to visit its Amphitheater and Moat as well as other
ruins from the city which was once the Roman capital of Palestine.
Continue to Mount Carmel and dinner and overnight at the Dan Carmel
Hotel. Optional evening stroll and coffee in panoramic Haifa,
Israel's largest port.
TUES Oct 27 UPPER GALILEE
Check out of hotel and visit ancient Acre and then over Carmel
Range to Nazareth and visit the Basilica of the Annunciation. Lunch
in Nazareth at Christian Arab restaurant. Drive to Sepphoris, the
hometown of Mary; stop at Cana of Galilee where Jesus did his first
miracle; visit the Mount of Beatitudes ( Holy Communion at this site
in late afternoon); Dinner and overnight at the Nof Ginosar Kibbutz
Hotel. Evening program at kibbutz.
WED Oct 28 SEA OF GALILEE
Drive east to Golan Heights visiting Dan and Caesarea Philippi;
arrive at Tiberias on the Sea of Galilee for St. Peter's fish lunch
at Ein Gev Kibbutz; visit the inlet of the Jordan River (opportunity
for renewal of baptism vows at the Jordan); sail to Capernaum; drive
to Tabgha; return to Nof Ginosar Kibbutz Hotel for dinner.
THUR Oct 29 SAMARIA
Check out of hotel and drive to Mount Tabor to visit the site of
the Transfiguration; continue to Samaria visiting Sabastia, one of
the ancient cities of the decapolis. Lunch in Sabastia; drive to
Nablus to visit Mount Gerizim and the Samaritan Synagogue; visit
Jacob's Well then continue to Jerusalem viewing Shiloh and Bethel en
route. Dinner and overnight at the Hyatt Regency.
FRI Oct 30 JERUSALEM
Drive to St. Stephen's Gate to begin walking tour of the Old
City's major Christian shrines long the Via Dolorosa, beginning at
the Pool of Bethsaida (St. Anne's Church), the Ecce Homo Arch, and
ending at the Holy Sepulcher Church. Return to hotel for lunch.
Afternoon free for optional visits to Garden Tomb, underground Israel
and other sites and shopping in East Jerusalem. Dinner in Arab
restaurant.
SAT Oct 3l JERICHO & EAST
Check out of hotel and drive to the Allenby Bridge via the Old
Roman Road to Jericho. See the oldest archaeology site in the world;
visit the Monastery of Saints John and George of Goziba. Cross
Allenby Bridge to Jordan and drive to visit Madaba and Mount Nebo,
then long the King's Highway to Petra. Lunch in Kerak. Arrive in
Petra and check into Moevenpick. Hotel for dinner and overnight.
SUN Nov l PETRA
After breakfast begin tour of Petra entering the Nabatean "rose"
city by horseback; visit the Treasury, the Monastery and the
Amphitheater. Afternoon return to Amman for dinner at the Jordan
International and freshen up before 2240 departure to Hong Kong via
Bangkok connection with Cathay Pacific.

Refund Policy:
A full refund is payable to persons who cancel in writing 45 days
prior to the departure. For written cancellation within 45 days of
departure up to the day of departure there will be a full refund of
all recoverable land and air costs. In case of a cancellation by
CCHK, there will be a full refund.
