13. Crossing The Triangle Of Flames 13. Crossing The Triangle Of Flames
14. Natassja In Eternal Sleep 14. Natassja In Eternal Sleep

This bootleg also exists on LP, but without tracks 10-14. Assuming they're from the same '92 rehearsal, tracks 10 and 11 are also on the "Crossing the Triangle of Flames" bootleg 7". Note that the live in Finland tracks have cuts between track indexes. The Oslo tracks play straight through.

Tracks 1-5 are from a special one-off gig with Dissection and Satyricon. Satyr plays bass on these Darkthrone tracks (ironic, because he had some sort of hand problem preventing him from playing bass earlier in the night with Satyricon). It's a pretty good audience recording, but there's no real stage banter. People have said the playing is sloppy, but I don't really hear too much of a difference from the normal versions. This is more novelty material than anything else.

Tracks 6-9 are of pretty good instrumental quality, although to me vocals are basically inaudible except on "A Blaze..." Note that these songs have been rearranged from the original gig order; at the end of track 9 you can just start to hear the spoken introduction to track 6. Track 8 is actually introduced as "Life" (or that's what it sounds like).

Evil Past
Tracks 1-3 - "Thulcandra" Demo 1989
Tracks 4-8 - "Land Of Frost" Demo 1988
Track 9 - Unreleased Demo 1989

1. Eon 1. Eon
2. Thulcandra 2. Thulcandra
3. Archiepielago 3. Archipelago
4. Land Of Frost 4. Land Of Frost
5. Wings Of Triton 5. Wings Of Triton
6. Forests Of Darkness 6. Forest Of Darkness
7. Odyssey Of Freedom 7. Odyssey Of Freedom
8. Death Of The Dead 8. Day Of The Dead
9. Snowfall 9. Snowfall (? - see notes)

Interesting bootleg compiling some of their earliest death metal demo material.

Note that tracks 1 and 2 are broken into seperate, non-continuous tracks. They were originally continuous. This makes the "Thulcandra" material here a bit inferior to versions on other bootlegs.

Track 9 is listed as being recorded in 1989 and that the title was later changed to "The Watchtower." And it is indeed an early version of "The Watchtower." However, this has nothing to do with the "Snowfall" track from the 1988 "A New Dimension" tape, which is a 9+ minute track that was featured on the official "Preparing For War" compilation. I would guess that track 9 here is mislabeled and is actually "The Watchtower" from the 1989 "Cromlech" demo.

8. Dismissal (crowd noise)
9. Eon/Thulcandra
10. Archipielago [sic]
11. Kathaarian Life Code

The first Darkthrone bootleg CD to appear. The location is listed as "Esberg" on the bootleg, which is an incorrect spelling. It also lists the "Thulcandra" demo as being from '88--it's from '89. There are apparently two versions of this bootleg which have different prints on the CD. Mine has what looks to be a glacier or coastal cliffs. I have also heard the other version may not have breaks between the track indexes; mine does.

In the intro to track 4, Ted Skjellum tells the crowd that this is their first gig outside of Norway. This is a good overview of their early death metal period. Considering what they were to become, some of the overly-humble stage banter is unintentionally hilarious:

Hey! Mr. sound engineer, are you ready?

...We're Darkthrone, from Norway...We came all the way to do this show. I hope you like it.

...We think you're a nice crowd, really...

Uhh...We shot the wideo on this...

The live version of "Neptune Towers" found here was also used for the official "Preparing For War" compilation CD.

Track 11 is just a bad-quality recording of the normal studio version of "Kathaarian Life Code" with some added background noise.

The True Legends In Black

Tracks 1-2 "Thulcandra" demo 1989
Tracks 3-9 - see Mayhem page
Label unknown
1. Eon/Thulcandra
2. Archipelago
3. Silvester Anfang - Mayhem

5. Chainsaw Gutsfuck - Mayhem
6. Witching Hour - Mayhem
7. Necrolust - Mayhem
8. Cweirds Manheim/Pure Fucking

No track indexing numbers are given on the back insert, just a listing of the various parts. Note that there's really nothing here than isn't unreleased, as the "Thulcandra" demo exists on other bootleg CDs with better additional material. Only worthwhile if you have no other way to get the material here, or if you like spending money on pictures of Darkthrone and Mayhem (together, no less!)
