The Hammer of Gharash was once the Luxuriant, the pleasure yacht of the Hegemon. It has been converted into the flagship of the Pelai fleet on H'kartha but still contains much of its original furnishings and decor. It it houses a crew of 20 sailors, a Purser/Quartermaster, a Navigator, 160 marines and 5 artillerists. The cargo area on the quarter deck now doubles as a commons for the Marines. The cargo deck has been converted to a gundeck with 4 bombards, the only arm ament of the ship. The Hammer of Gharash is poorly suited for aerial combat with other flying ships. Its bombards are designed to fire on ground targets and not flying creatures or characters. The ship has a cloaking field which casts an invisibility on the ship and a non-detection. This is active when the ship is tethered, and typically while flying. While cloaked no offensive action can be taken by those inside the ship through the field. When the cloak is lifted, after five minutes, a new fiel d is generated which covers the entire surface of the ship in a minor globe of invulnerability. The ship's helm has limited capabilities with respect to spelljamming, as it was designed only to operate within the atmosphere and requires oxygen to maneuver, outside of a world's atmosphere and the helm will quickly eat up all the air in the bubble. The Hegemon maintains suites on the vessel which are off limits to the rest of the officers and crew of the ship, even when he is not aboard. The salon/theater has been coverted into a stable for horses and camels, and the stage has been replaced by a technomantic marvel, a portal generator. This device allows the party to board and exit the ship without it landing. Communication between "away teams" and the ship has also been provided for. An aerie has been established atop the ship for the three griffins.
The ship is capable of air-sailing (Phanejul) and Talihihe (small dimensional rifting across a world).. Within an atmosphere, the Spelljammer relies on the flux of elemental air that is in the atmosphere riding along on air currents. This flux is sufficient as the ship sails at speeds that are much slower than those used in the Phlogiston. Phanejul speeds in an atmosphere is normally in the range of 60 miles per hour.
The psthaaga are armored in a type of plate armor made of Yzarn carapace. They all wield startstone battleaxes and have magical crossbows that fire bolts with the properties of flame arrows.
The four artillerists are Illithids not of the original race, but magically "enhanced" deep elves (Sidhe Eloi) created to replace the dwindling numbers of the sterile Illithid race. Through Illithid technomantic "teaching machines" they have theoretically become skilled in the technomantic sciences, but their practical experience is non-existant and they still seem to be coming to grips with their new Illithid status, minds and powers. The crew as a result has nicknamed them the "Spastic Squidheads".
A Product of Illithid Technomantic and Biomagical experimentation, the Navigator is a being with a very alien mind, and one who inspires a sense of discomfort even among the crew, and horror among those who encounter the creature for the first time. Sentient, few besides Rhun will deal directly with the Navigator. It is generally understood not to inquire about the constant supply of captives that are acquired for use by the Navigator. He is the only one allowed in his quarters other than Rhun, but the screams that frequently come from the chambers of the Navigator suggest he is engaged in unspeakable rites and magic. As these magics of blood and souls apparently power and steer the ship, as well as generate the defensive fields, they are convient ly ignored, even though they disquiet even the hard hearted Psthaaga and Harute. Some of the crew have seen "hauntings" around the ship which according to rumors are apparitions of these vanished captives.
Bascavus is a Kiresh who is about 50 years old. He is the Purser/Quartermaster of the Ship. Born in Kyroz, he was the Royal Steward to the old Ishandeshee Archon of Kyroz, then served Marghash and now serves Gharash. Of noble birth, he has the annoying habit of telling stories about the grand balls and feasts he arranged for the Archon in the grand old days, and how much better Ishandeshee taste is over that of the Illithids. He is utterly indifferent to politics and is consumed with his duties as if they are the center of everything. The rest of the universe is merely annoyances to his work. He is very officious, meticulous to a fault, proud and excrutiatingly dull. He is however very good at his job. He flees shrieking at the site of the Navigator. However as the Navigator spends most of his time in his chambers or the bridge, such incidents are rare. He will often complain about being a "bundle of nerves" having just witnessed a "haunting" from a distressed undead spirit. His nickname for the Hammer of Gharash is The Ship of the Damned.
