The Granberg Garden of Goodies

Fun Links

Here's a collection of fun links to a variety of places. Some relate to organizations my children or I have been involved in, fun places to visit on the net, and some resources for building a homepage that make it more fun.

Connections...

Lawrence High School, Home of the Chesty Lion, is where my older kids went to school in Lawrence, Kansas.

  • Jeni graduated in the Class of 1995
  • Ryan graduated in the Class of 1997

Girl Scouts--Jeni, Allison, and I were active in the Kaw Valley Council of the Girl Scouts of America for many years. Jeni joined as a Brownie in first grade and stayed active through junior high, and a member through high school. She continued to help out as a life guard for one of the mariner troops in Lawrence after high school on an as-needed basis. Allison was a Brownie and Junior. I served as leader of a junior troop for four years beginning when Jeni was in 4th grade. I also helped with several council events, organized and conducted badge workshops during the summer, and was 6th grade day camp unit leader at Hidden Valley in Lawrence during the years I was leader.

You can find out more about Girl Scouts at the following sites:

  • Girl Scouts USA homepage at http://www.girlscouts.org
  • Kaw Valley Council, Topeka, Kansas, GSUSA homepage at http://www.girlscouts.net

International Order of Rainbow for Girls -- Here's a link to a Masonic organization for girls that I belonged to in California for many years. Jeni joined briefly, but enjoyed Girl Scouts and camping better than formals and service work. I was a member of Pittsburg Assembly #49, serving in several offices, as Worthy Advisor in Spring 1971, and returning as a majority member to serve on the Advisory Board and as Mother Advisor from 1977-1979. I have many fond memories and lots of pictures in my scrapbooks.

I also have ties to the Order of Eastern Star. My original ties are to Ariel Chapter #42 in California where I was initiated on May 27, 1975. After I moved to Kansas I continued to pay my dues, but was an inactive member. Upon moving to central Kansas I was invited to join the local chapter as a dual member. That was two years ago and now, twenty-five years after my initiation, I am an active dual member of Felicity Chapter #371 in Kansas and have been elected to the line.

Fun (and silly) places to explore...

Smithsonian Institution is a wonderful site full of links to the various museums within the Smithsonian and is full of pictures and resource links for more information. Lots of fun to explore!

The Exploratorium is an adventure in science and technology both in its online location and in its home in the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, California.

There are several places where you can send electronic cards or flowers for free... Here's two that I frequent and enjoy.

Graphics for Homepages
