First Degree The D.E. - Big Black Bat
Reviewed By: Blutarski
- Brotha Lynch gives First Degree a little intro. It says that the album is narrated by
Lynch, but he only talks on 3 tracks.
- This track starts this very weird, unique and very good album. It starts off with a good
beat and some nice background instruments. First Degree flows with his own unique style.
He does a half talk, half rap on most of his tracks and this is no exception. The
production is very good. A great track to start the album off with.
- First Degree comes with a slick flow on this track. The beat is pretty good and I like
his production. This track is like a mix of the styles from "Damn That D.E." and "Planet
Zero." The lyrics he spits are very weird, but they work. I'm feeling it overall.
- The guitar work on this track is very good. The beat is alright and I like how this
track is produced. First Degree comes with some very weird lyrics on the mic. He spits
lyrics that make you sit back and go WTF? It's still a clean track. Weird, but coo.
- This is just a quick interlude. Some shouting, hard to make out what is being said.
- The beat is knoccin on this track. First Degree flows about a shychotic woman. The beat
gets your head into the track and the background effects are tight as fuck! This track
is knoccin from start to finish. More of those weird lyrics, but I'm feeling this track
to the fullest.
- This track is very weird. The beat never really kicks in. It's an instrumental track,
but it just seems like the beat is going to kick in, but never does. The production is
tight on it, but I don't like it without a beat. A very weird track.
- This is one of my favorite tracks on the album. The production is nothing but the best
from The D.E. and I like the very weird lyrics he comes with. This album is very weird,
but I'm feeling it. This track is a perfect example of it. A sweet track overall. Brotha
Lynch is at the end of the track talking.
- The production on this track is sweet. I like all the instruments First Degree used and
the beat fits in perfectly. He comes with more of those unique lyrics. This is just
plain weird I don't know how else to describe it. Still a clean track though.
- I don't know where he comes up with some of this shit, but it's clean. The beat is tight
and gets your head moving. The background effects are slick and I'm feeling the lyrics.
I really can't say much more, just more weird shit. A coo track overall.
- This is a short 23 second long track. It has a nice beat and coo production. Just short
though, I don't understand why.
- I like the delivery on this track. D.E. comes with some nice vocals. The beat is coo and
there is more great production. He flows as Robo D.E. on this track. Just more of that
weird shit. I like the computer effects near the end of the track. This is just a tight
ass track, even if it very weird.
- D.E. says is perfectly on this track, "D.E. you'll never go platinum you're too abstract."
That line says it perfectly. He is not the norm in rap, hip-hop, rock, classical, jazz,
but a combination off all those genres. D.E. comes with some clean lyrics on this one
and I'm feeling the production as usual. A tight ass track overall, one of my
favorites.
- This is a snippit from the "Fahrenheit Instrumenta." It has some nice instruments on it
for sure. It's a mix of many different types of music styles. A clean instrumental
track. There is a hidden track on this one as well. It is the beat from track 6. It's
only an instrumental. A coo little way to end the album.
Overall this album is definitely unique. It's not like the other First Degree releases.
It has it's own blend of hip-hop, rap, rock, classical, jazz and every other kind of
music you can think of. D.E. brings a very unique form of musical expression. It has
great production throughout the album and that is the main focus of D.E.'s work. He
comes alright on the mic, but he expresses himself better through his music than with
his voice. I am feeling this album, no matter how weird it is. If you are a D.E. fan you
will love this album, otherwise it might not be for you. I would say get it though.
