The family selection committee works to carry out the board's vision by defining for the community
the population in need of decent, affordable housing, and by developing processes and policies for
selecting those in greatest need.  Once the application process has been approved, this group
will work with families who have applied, making sure that the applicant families meet the established
criteria.  Working with the Family Selection Committee, you will find certain joy in making what
seems an unobtainable dream come true for some of these families.
The site selection committee works to define neighborhoods and communities to work with, and find
available land to build on.  This includes working with city offices, neighborhood associations,
and property owners.  Those who would like to dabble in real estate would be natural members!
Public Relations includes writing for newsletters, newspapers, advertising for special events
and public speaking.  This committee is responsible for assuring the community is informed of
the progress and information relating to HFHSWND.
Development assumes the leadership for implementing the public relations and fund-raising policies
and goals of the board of directors.  Fund-raising assistance is needed to assure the future success
of HFHSWND.
HFHSWND is a Christian based organization.  This committee works to gain and maintain the support
of all area churches.
Habitat is a volunteer based organization. Because of the large number of eager workers,
there is always a need for those willing to coordinate volunteers, make phone calls, correspond, and
send thank you notes.
The building committee works with the site selection committee to define the type of construction
that best fits the needs of the local community and Habitat's goals. The committee proposes
guidelines to the board for the type of construction work that the affiliate will do, dealing specifically with
the house design criteria, materials, plans and cost estimates.
Habitat affiliates are committed to "the development and uplifting of families and communities,
not only the construction of houses."  Members of the family nurture committee will work
to establish tools and procedures for accomplishing this task.  Once affiliated, this committee will
work with families to be sure that the families know what is required in the area of sweat equity, and to
help in the construction.
