Wedding Plans

On Friday (June 25, 1999) afternoon, we looked at reception sites. We looked at The Best Western Glengarry and Keddy's Motor Inn and pretty much decided we wanted The Glengarry. We wrote up a list of potential guests with Mom and Janet before we left. On Saturday we left for Ottawa and we overnighted in Levis, Que. On Sunday, we returned to Ottawa, brought the ring in to be sized, got some chocolates, strawberries and put some champagne on to chill. When it was chilled, we enjoyed a feast of strawberries and champagne to celebrate our engagement!

Now I'm planning a wedding. Greg booked the Glengarry when we got home and yesterday, I went shopping for the invitations I want to make.

Sunday, August 1, 1999

On July 6, I chose Michelle Enzinas to be my matron of honour and Carol and Janet to be my bridesmaids. Greg and I decided to use burgandy as our color scheme. Today, Michelle and I went shopping again. We went to a flower shop where bouquets were over $100. We were overwhelmed at all the ideas. We also went to Walmart where I put together a bouquet of silk flowers. I had so much fun I decided I'd have to make my own bouquets.

Monday, August 2, 1999

Monday off - Greg is still away and I miss him. I did dishes, made bread and finished designing the complete invitations and table place setting cards. I also finished the wedding dress prototype today. It looks good. And it's regular cotton so I can wear it as a summer dress. I also called mom to check into the photographer and I organized my wedding binder.

Sunday, August 15, 1999

I bought the lace for the wedding gown yesterday and I bought the beads for it too. I went to Donna Kearn's and after she brought down a second bunch of lace, I found the one I chose. It was the right kind at the right price. Then I got the beads at the Sassy Bead Co. on Bank Street. Greg is in Montreal again. I arranged the pieces on the lace today and I cut them out. I even started putting the sequins and beads on the lace. It looks good.

Saturday, August 21, 1999

Today Greg and I went shopping in big style. We bought all the flowers for the bridal bouquet and the bridesmaids' bouquets. We also went to 3 Bouclair fabric stores to buy the fabric for the bridesmaids and maid of honour dresses. Since we were buying that and we wanted to get the "Extra card" we figured we'd buy the tulle for my gown at the same time. We got the last of at least three bolts of fabric while we were there! And Greg held things and helped make decisions the whole time. He was so helpful! I love him.
