   General Notes:

(Taken from Hess Higbee)
William Henry came from New York when a lad of 18 years with his father and family which numbered nine *children. At the age of 23, he purchased his present farm paying $1,000 for 80 acres of grubs, which he has developed into a high grade fruit and melon farm. On Feb. 22, 1865, he united in matrimony with Miss Amanda Higbee, and the two, by close application to agricultural industry, have attained a beautiful rural home, where the Hess-Higbee families were received Aug. 8, 1908, to celebrate their sixth annual reunion.
Mr. and Mrs. Hill are fortunate in that their children are each located nearby the old home and the children can congratulate themselves in having received substantial and material aid from these industrious parents when launching their respective homes. The present house of of Mr. & Mrs. Hill was erected in 1875 and although a rural residence 8 miles east of Benton Harbor, yet is equipped with modern improvements.
