On Saturday 18th of June I left Qeensland and drove across into the Northern Territory.I drove for eight hours (770km) on that day through a huge down pour, and all the way to Alice Springs - where it was cold as well as wet! After Alice I drove the 450km south west to Uluru formally known as Ayres Rock. On the way I had a puncture in the passanger side front wheel - no telephone coverage and no one to help me lift the spare out from under 'Dianna'...Then the cavalry arrived in the form of two Police Officers on there way home for lunch! They were fantastic, had the tire changed in no time. Here is Uluru at sunset on the evening I arrived...just magnificent.

I decided to climb the 'Rock'. Here I am on top, with the Olgas mountain range in the background...I must have been mad!
This is a view of the rock from the top of the chain - yes there is just a chain, and it doesn't even go all the way to the top!

Here I am coming down...notice the fixed grin on my face!

I went to the Sound of Silence Dinner one evening. It was a fantastic evening - Champagne with nibbles - crocodile, camel and kangaroo, followed by a five course dinner, copious amounts of fine Australian wine and star gazing...just magic.
