When I left the East coast of Australia and the wonderful Coral Sea I travelled West and inland to Georgetown and Normanton and then on to Karumba on the Gulf of Carpentaria. It's a long old drive with miles and miles of bushland and cows! This little lot were crossing the road on the way.

Karumba is miles and miles from anywhere, however it is also where hundreds of older people go each 'dry' to fish! I was told that I was sure to catch a 'big' one here. I tried and failed pathetically! There was however the most wonderful sunset each evening...
This was the sum total of my 'size' catch for the day! What you can't see is the blood running from my other arm where this little beastie spiked me!

After leaving Karumba I headed for Mt Isa, which is one of the worlds largest mines. I took myself mining for the day...check out that orange overall...unfortunately the boots didn't have handles on them!

Here I am at the mine face - notice all of the charges set in the wall behind me...
