We had to cross the Bloomfield River over a causeway - this was our trusty four wheel drive vehicle for the day.

Cooktown was named after Captain James Cook, who brought the Endevour into the estuary after grounding the ship off of the coast of Cape Tribulation.
The anchor from the Endeavour was found in the 1980's and now resides in the Cooktown museum.(Sorry the photo is on its side...having problems resizing photos at the moment).

This is the famous Lions Den Hotel on the Bloomfield Track. Basically it's a tin shed in middle of nowhere...note the serving hatch!

I don't think it's a real lion! We were there on a Sunday afternoon and the band were just setting up for the Sunday session...unfortunately we had to leave before main attraction!
