Naarad Puraan is the 6th Puraan in the row of 18 Puraan. This Puraan is divided in two parts Poorv Bhaag (early part) and Uttar Bhaag (later part). Poorv Bhaag is subdivided in four Paad (sections). In all it contains 25,000 Shlok (verses) among its 173 chapters.. This Puraan describes the six parts of Ved (Shikshaa, Kalp, Vyaakaran, Nirukt, Jyotish (astrology), and Chhand Shaastra - poetry) and worshipping Bhagavaan with desires in detail. This is in the form of dialog between Shaunak etc Rishi and Soot Jee in Siddh Aashram. (Soot Jee is the disciple of Ved Vyaas, and his real name is Lomharshan). So this Puraan was told by Soot Jee to many Rishi. Originally Sanakaadi Muni (they are four - Sanak, Sanandan, Sanat Kumaar and Sanaatan. They are the brain children of Brahmaa Jee, and so is Naarad Jee) told this to Naarad Jee.
