The Kurosaki family is a prominate family in the Kamakura region. They were once a samurai family, and hold great status in the eyes of the people. Hisoka was going to be the 17th head, and as a result, trained in martial arts before he died.
Hisoka's got one creepy family. It turns out that the first head of the Kurosaki family killed a lake dragon that haunted the Kamakura region. As a result, the family line was cursed, and each head would die a horrible death. Then plus, his mother committed suicide after he died, and his father used his mother's twin sister to pose as his wife, To top it all off, when Watari and Tatsumi investigate the Kurosaki family, Nagure claimed that his wife isn't bearing his child, and has been pregnant for two years. And she's sort of insane too.
Hisoka didn't have a very good relationship with his father. He doesn't seem to think about his mother that much in his memories though. His father tried to shape Hisoka into his view of an ideal child. And no matter what Hisoka died, he was never acknowledged. He seems very bitter about his treatment in his home.
Apparently, Hisoka once had an older sister who died. His mother needed an heir, but Hisoka turned out faulty. He possessed empathy, and for freaky adults who have a freaky life, they hate anyone who knows the truth. They locked him up when he was a little boy. It becomes apparent that Hisoka had a lot of imaginary friends when he was young. Then at around age 13, he was raped, cursed, and killed by Muraki, and suffered through a reigned illness for 3 years until he died. It’s not his fault he's touchy and has a bad temper.
