Exothermic Welding Products |
The Exothermic Welding process is a method of making electrical connections of copper to copper or copper to steel in which no outside source or power is required. The Weldmetal (copper oxide and aluminium) are poured into the graphite mould crucible and ignited with a recommended flint ignitor. The reduction of the copper oxide by the aluminium (exothermic reaction) produces molten copper and aluminium oxide slag. The molten copper flows over the conductor in the graphite mould, melting them (copper conductors) and bonding them together. |

Pre-heat the mould with a blow torch. Then position the cleaned conductors into the mould. |
Place the metal retaining disc in the bottom of the mould crucible. |
Pour the weldmetal into the crucible and spread some starting powder onto the mould edge. |
Close the cover, and ignite with the flint gun from the side, firing the spark onto the starting powder. |
Exothermic reaction taking place within the mould. |
