CINEMA WASTELAND
CLEVELAND, OHIO

OCTOBER 4 - 6, 2003

WHAT OTHERS HAD TO SAY...

Now, while I'd like to think that my word is the final word on Cinema Wasteland 2003, the truth is it isn't...here are some choice comments that many of the hosts, friends of hosts, and fans had to say after the fact. Here they are:

I LOVE YOU GUYS 'Nuff said!?! TBJ and I had a wonderful time in beautiful Ohio with ALL of our friends. I couldn't have asked for a better time, even with all of the confusion resulting from everyone from all over doing things all over simultaneously....I wish I had more time to spend with each and every one of you. I hope the friendships which began here at CW2003 will grow and prosper over time. - Nocturna

I never thought it could happen that so many horrorhosts could get together for a weekend with no one trying to be "king of the mountain!" But then there was both a king and queen in the persona of Ghastlee and Suspira...and who would try to upstage them? - Count Gore

All I have to say after this weekend is WOW!! I'm still on sensory overload. - Halloween Jack

Man alive it was great to see everybody! Evan and Dell were great guys (on that note i left my pillow in the hotel room and i called up there to see if the hotel staff had found it yet. They said they had, but the HazMat team was still scouring and disinfecting the room, and it would be a few days before they could ship it back to me). - El Sapo De Tempesto

It was great to have you all virtually in my backyard. I'm not much for a lot of words (unless they are ultrified words or about some technical/geek issue on making the show). I'm glad I met you all and understand the sacrifices many of you made in the form of long trips. I'm glad each of you seem to have made it home ultimately in good condition. - The Mortician

Cinema Wasteland…a haunted, cursed place, where creatures of darkness and evil run rampant and twisted souls join together in an otherworldly orgy of the macabre. - Professor Griffin

My family has arrived safely back in Marina, CA after a Cinema Wasteland weekend that was more wonderful than we could ever have expected - Remo D.

hello all good horror host: The convention was a blast. Navin and I really had a good time being with the rest of the HHH at the convention. Commandant Gore and I was tickled when a fan came to us and wanted our autograph. We gave it to him. I was really touched by ghastlee wedding ceremony. i had close friends didn't invite me to any of their weddings but i know the commandant and I have really good friends within the horrorhostunderground. - Rick Ammon Executive producer Gorevision

My personal favorite memory of the BONE MAN, was before the wedding began. The Dark god and your humble narrator, the twisted carnival barker, both sharing a quiet conversation in the corner of the film room…relaxed and friendly, smiling and indeed even beaming, the event went un-noticed by the room, the press and most everyone else, but those brief moments were treasured by yours truly. - Professor Griffin

Wow.... what a whirlwind event and it was an absolute pleasure to finally meet each and every one of you! We made it home safely after the Cleveland traffic-a-go-go and now I sit here bleary eyed and whistful over my giant cup of java here at work. It all seems like a wonderful dream. - Butch R. Cleaver

CURTIS! Not just for meeting you, but for ALL you continue to do for all of us! And KEN, for allowing this all to happen! My other on-line friends coming to life around me! Pale One--so sorry I couldn't focus on you properly when I first met you, but so glad I finally did! Jeff! Jane! CRYSTAL (without whom I'd never have even HEARD of... well, you get the idea)!!!! - Remo D.

I also want to quickly say the Dr. Sacorfoguy can SING wonderfully and, well, you're AWESOME!!! I just never knew that Jim Croche song could be a love song!!! Mortician, keep up on your powerlifting!! Cleavers, I hope we can get together more often since we're close by. Halloween Jack, it was a great pleasure again and I hope things are cool with your kids, esp your son who has had a lot of problems earlier this year (I kept meaning to ask you this over and over and kept getting sidetracked). - I Zombi

I just want to say that you must be one of the warmest, silliest groups of people/monsters that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. - Pale Entrantress

Ghastlee and Wolfie were just flat out great guys...they took us into their home and made us feel welcome...thanks again guys! - El Sapo De Tempesto

Still recovering from the most amazing weekend of my life. There isn't enough words in cyberspace to express the emotions or to say enough thanks to everyone who helped to make our wedding soooo special. I couldn't have wished for a more wonderful "fang-mily". You are all always welcome at Ghastlee & Suspira Manor. ( sorry Remo, We're not trying to copykat or anything-It used to be called Bloodstone manor). I want to thank everyone individually, but I'm afraid of leaving someone out, and that would be the LAST thing I would want to do. Everyone of you are so amazing and incredibly talented and the whole experience will be treasured in our hearts always. Ghastlee and I have already gone through a box of tissues reading some of the e-mails. Hugs !!! - Suspira

I can't remember how many people took my picture and I was even interviewed. Boy, I was surprised. I was even caught on tape fondling Doctor Sarcofiguy's wonderful head. Yes, I'll say it again, Sarcofiguy, you have a great head. I think I even noticed a little 5 O'clock shadow. That's okay, I like a little texture. - Nicole

The wedding was a a beautiful, chaotic thing, as suits the gracious bride and Mr. Suspira!! Yes, there will never be another one in all of Horrorland quite like that one... - Nocturna

Prof. Griffin and crew--what an absolute treat. Thanks for every little thing you did for us the whole weekend--watching Cameron play "Get Griff" will be one of my eternal favorite memories--and one of his, no doubt. - Remo D.

Bone Jangler & Nocturna: What a wonderful couple...It was good to see you again! You both are terrific together and your kindness is so very appreciated by us both (don't worry...we won't tell anyone about the kind stuff... *wink*). Always an inspiration! Charles Crowley: Good to finally meet you in the flesh. You are a top notch guy and a hoot to boot! - Butch

Dr. Sarcofiguy - it was good fun meeting you once again - condensed stream-of-consciousness 2nd Banana chit-chat is highly under-rated. ( you wont look at desktop accessories in the same way - ever again! )  - Boogitshu Bob

CINEMA WASTELAND AD 2003, wast ye non-pareil apogee o' all the Horror Conventions unto which it hath been mine supreme pleasure to attend! Ye GHASTLEE-SUSPIRA Wedding wast ye event o' this Millenium, and, its pow'r to draweth out ye multitudes o' Horror Hosts in such reverent, yet, ribald revery, shalt, itself, receive tellings and re-tellings, e'en, unto laying hold unto ye claimant o' Legendary status... and, m'Lad, I was ensorrowed to receive the news o' thine {and, thy Lady CHELSEA'S } absence from it. - Baron Von Wolfstein

The good Doctors (and Doktor)--Shock, Freak, Mor B.S., Goulfinger. Enjoyed overhearing Shock's stories during his interview. Apologies for messing up on Freak's good name (once) but glad to see him feeling well on Sunday. And looking forward to hooking up with Goulfinger (my closest neighbor) again soon. And "Hooky" says "Hava Nagila" to Mor B.S.! - Remo D.

The shriek of a banshee……the heavy plod of death…the toothy smile of a vampire…the insane grin of a horned creature with cloven feet….and the gentle voice of The Carpathian. The Patient Creatures are here and they bring the dark swirls of midnight velvet with them. What a treat Night Creatures! Step Right up and don't be afraid!! These are the most gentle of Monsters. Watch as Grim rocks out during the wedding….and discusses the aesthetic beauty of black fishnets on pale, gothic, female legs with yours truly….(yes Nicole, we were talking about you) See as Carpathian leads us all through a beautiful ceremony celebrating the love and insanity of Bob and Kathy…gasp in awe as Scarlett and Kuzibah parade and prance,..and hold tight and try not to drop over with fright as the wail of the Banshee shakes the walls and shatters glass. The Patient Creatures deserve the greatest that mortal success can give them. It was a pleasure to meet them all and I am in awe at the talent displayed so easily. - Professor Griffin

Carpathian and all your Patient Creatures: Speaking of icons... :) You guys and gals are superb! Talented, friendly and so very captivating. Carpathian, when we do elope, you and your patient creatures will be the first ones we call! Your words during the ceremony were fantastic...very moving... they actually brought me to tears (which is hard to do... its usually just John Stamos situational comedies and my bi-wwekly paychecks that send me sobbing *wink*)Your continued success is assured and we look forward to meeting you again at future cons, etc. - Butch R. Cleaver

Now, the Roast was great, however, no BBQ sauce and no spit.( Suspira was disappointed.) But there were a few projectile peeps. We tried to hide in the back but Count Gore spotted us. After the Roast, and a quick run to the car for supplies, Suspira's Bachelorette began. At first just it was just a few people gathered in Ghastlee and Suspira's room. A few minutes later, I think nearly all the guest in the hotel showed up, or at least is looked like that for a while. What a wonderful treat. The party was a blast, it really was. I was so happy to see so many people show up and have a great time. That's what I wanted. A few people to get together and have fun. - Nicole

Tom Sullivan's Evil Dead museum (which we got an on camera tour of), the ladies of the Evil Dead (who during our meeting, bit my wrist!!) and the scantily clad ladies of Flesh for the Beast (the less said about that meeting, the better…although it IS on camera) - Griffin

The one memory I take back that is most strong is meeting 2 young boys that were very curious and one that now seems to be my biggest fan. This is what I'm in it for. Creating memories for the next generation much like the ones I have of Big Chuck, Hoolihan, Lil' John and Chilly Billy that make this business one of the few that still seem unpolluted by corporate bottom lines, earnings statements and stock price. - The Mortician

All you guys you rock!! - I. Zombi

The wedding was beyond compare, and I feel honored and overjoyed to have been asked to be a part of it. Carpathian, the ceremony was undoubtedly the most beautiful non-denominational ceremony I've ever witnessed. I don't believe there was a dry eye in the house... although some of us managed to hold a modicum of composure until the moment when, after being asked if he took Kathy as his wife, Bob said "I do', then looked into her eyes lovingly and said in a slightly louder and more emphatic voice, "Hell Yeah!". - Robin

I was honored that Kathy asked to join her wedding party. It meant a lot to me and I am thrilled she enjoyed her very large Bachelorette party. Bob and Kathy are two very sweet, wonderful people and I think they are a perfect couple and will be very happy together. I wish you much happiness and I look forward to the next time we are able to meet. - Nicole

As Butch said Saturday night, "I haven't hugged this many people since the last funeral I attended!" - Joan R. Cleaver

Memories fade and reality comes back to ruin the night. Like the dreaded sunrise, even Joe Nosferatu must slink away to his earth bed. BUT….we will all meet again. I know this. It's a fact. We will all be re-united once more for yet another leap into the dark unknown. A leap filled with friends, fun, laughter, and more than our share of alcohol. Much more than our share. Much much more. - Professor Anton Griffin

The wedding ceremony was Grand. Carpaithian's words were wry, reverent, and still Fun. Bob & Kathy were Good Sports to invite/allow us to be part of this moment of their lives. ( not to mention Brave! )... that being said... I think with a few more dry runs - we might just have a Show to take on the Road! - Boogitshu Bob

The Bridesmaids gathered and Suspira was ready, and we slowly made our way down to Grim's Hearse. Now, here's where it gets a little interesting. I have always had a secret desire to ride in the back of a hearse. I don't know why but why not. Tonight, my most secret dream was granted. I bet you're wondering how does a lady with a long black cape and very little dress crawl into the back of a hearse. So was I and it wasn't pretty. My typical karma was in true form. I was the only bridesmaid to find a small dip in the back of the hearse. I was wondering why I kept sinking but the pillows kept me topside, mostly. I am grateful that I didn't get stuck in the hole. I imagine that 911 would have been a bit hard to explain. - Nicole

Kathy and I have been reading them with much delight and weeping. The love and support we felt over the weekend is still pretty overwhelming. If there is anything to be overwhelmed by, it is the kindness, intellegence, and creativity of your extended family. - A. Ghastlee Ghoul
